I had it removed from a couple of company owned iPads. We the company had purchased them directly from Apple. After confirming and filling out a form of who I was and why we could not remove the lock they removed it within 48hrs. It was so easy after the fact I had wished I had done it sooner.

Who did it?? I have iPhone I need unlocked that I bought and the people won't give me the accounts.

You had a receipt and enough proof. You also knew enough to contact Apple directly. We are hearing your story AFTER the fact.

Most people asking are newbies whose only post here is to ask about breaking the lock. Either they do not have the correct documentation to petition Apple (otherwise why ask the question here) or they stole the device.

So they ask here hoping for a bypass because they know they cannot get one through Apple. Without documentation and proof there is none and Apple cannot do this.
[doublepost=1553795622][/doublepost]FYI: my iPad mini was stolen by this chick cause I left it in my backpack in her car. A month or so later her boyfriend got it back to me minus it’s case which I’d personalized but for some reason it was locked and even though I had the email and password they didn’t work so I called apple and because I bought the iPad from a friend they refused to unlock it which is ********! Had no problems with it being locked or whatever until after I got it back from being stolen which was hard enough but then be told I have to track down lady I bought it from (over a year prior) to get a receipt to prove purchase?!!! Let’s be real even if I found her I doubt she’d still have the receipt for an iPad she sold over a year ago, so basically I got ****ed by apple for no reason.

How would Apple know you are the actual owner without proof?

Hi can you help me unlock my iphone x?

If you mean activation lock, then Apple can help you. If you need your phone unlocked to use on a different cell provider, you need to work with your cell provider.

I'm surprised this is happening to so many people. I've posted in two other threads my story.

I restored my 6s Plus that I originally owned and was surprised to see Activation Lock with an email that wasn't mine. After hours on the phone with Apple, I went into the store and they unlocked it with proof of purchase. 19 hours later? Locked again. Long story short, they removed the lock and replaced my phone for me, but they couldn't figure out why this was happening.

There is a difference if your phone is put into LOST mode. From what the senior specialist told me, you can't unlock a phone that was put into LOST mode.
Just curious where did you by your phone?

Unfortunately, no-one can help with this.

First and foremost, it appears that you purchased a stolen device or one that is on some sort of contract (which is basically back to stolen). Apple cannot and will not assist with that.

If you have the original receipt for the device, Apple MIGHT help, but doubtful.

Second, discussion of bypassing security measures within iOS devices is not permitted on MacRumors.

No. They will only address it with some form of proof of purchase. So an invoice, receipt, or sales slip showing the iPhone purchase.

If you don't have proof of this, you likely are out of luck. Your email, appleID, or similar things do not prove that you own the device.

Doesn't Apple keep records of Merchandise Purchases?

Yes, but the problem isn't whether Apple can verify that the phone was purchased, but rather that the person approaching them was the one who purchased it. If you steal an iPhone, you don't usually get the proof of purchase with it.

I live in Denmark and Apple are able to remove activation lock for years now. You have to proof, that the phone is yours.
