Thanks, didn't know about that! Just checked it out but I really don't like the "/via @user" format it uses... Any way to change it?

You used to be able to change it to "(via @user)", but that option appears to be gone. I agree with you. I'd like this changable.

I really don't like the quote option at all so I'm manually changing the text to the old school way.

Also, with 2.1 native RT, you can't RT from a different acct like you could in 2.0. I really liked that you could change the account to post with since I have a separate acct for news feeds (which was Loren's answer to Lists before Lists was rolled out). I'm not saying I don't like the native RT but I want the option.

I do like the list feature but hate that all the other great things from 2.0 have been removed. Basically, Loren took away the options. His way or the highway. I've been a long time supporter of this app and paid twice for it. I've always defended his decisions as a developer but with this, I feel like he's saying screw you. I know better than everyone and I don't care what you like. This is how it is.

I think I'm going back to 2.0 for now or explore other apps...that makes me sad.

Loren didn't remove anything that Twitter didn't also remove. If you tweet from the web you'll see that the only way to do old style RT's is to do it manually.

You may change to another app but it's very likely that they all end up doing the same thing.

Actually, Twitter never had an option to RT the old way, it was all manual as you said. Tweetie did and now it's gone...so I'd say that's taking it away.

Twitter created the new retweet api and their site now supports it. Tweetie is following the same convention. Twitter is trying to get rid of the RT format. Therefore, Tweetie still provides the quote function for providing your own comments. Twitter is trying to separate the two functions. You can't blame Tweetie for Twitter changing the api.

You misunderstand what an API is. API is a way for developers to access or use Twitters tools. The new retweet feature is one of those API calls that a developer can make.

The "old" retweet function wasn't implemented by Twitter at all. All Tweetie (and other clients) did was when you wanted to reply, copy the old tweet into a new one so you could edit and/or comment on it. The client (Tweetie, etc) would merely add "via" or "RT" and other tidbits of info stating that it was retweeted. NONE of this was implemented on Twitters side of things. It was all handled by the clients.

So yes, in essence Tweetie took some functionality away. At least the options for what Loren now calls "Quoting"

I'm well aware of how it works. Twitter created the API to replace the RT use. They encouraged all developers to use this new format that includes metadata. So yes, Tweetie, made the default retweet use the new api. So is every other client that updates. Quoting is still there and you can still use the RT format. So I am not sure what the big deal is. The use of the word "QUOTE" is a great idea. It differentiates quoting from retweeting as they are separate functions now.

Guys I'm having a problem creating a new list.

I create one, and when I try to add people to it, I get that little spinning wheel and I eventually have to just back out.

I've made a list via comp and it shows up fine. But when trying to create one from tweetie, having issues.

Help anyone??

I've moved over to Twittelater Pro since it give me the functions I want...and choices. I really did love Tweetie and Tweetie 2.0 but I'll take function over a prettier UI. I hated 2.1.

I have choice of native or old school RT. List function is great. Customizable bottom dock. Basically, it has all the features of Tweetie and then some (except for custom picture API so I can't use flickr4twitter anymore). Anyway...I've made the switch.

It all comes down to preference.
