I upgraded from the 15 Pro Max and I'm running iOS 18.1 developer beta. Siri / Apple Intelligence seems to run better on the 16 pro max then what it did on my 15 pro max although admittedly there have been further updates. The battery life is noticeable better for me although I don't do much streaming or gaming on my phone. I do like the camera controls but it did take some time to get use to the different pressure I have to push. on the day to day stuff I haven't noticed much in the way of speed increase. all in all im happy with the upgrade.

I use a Verizon MVNO that costs me $39/mo total for 4 lines with 1 GB of shared data. People pay hundreds per month and think they get phone upgrades and included streaming services for free.
I understand, but all you get is you pay your phone over many months. It's never free... When I buy a new phone, I pay up front, of course if you prefer to spread the cost so you don't have to spend the entire amount at once, that's a good deal.

You’ll have to get past the three week review first — and then of course there’s the five week review coming up after that.
No no no, there's also going to be the "is the iPhone 16 Pro still worth it in 2024" at the end of the month.

If I want to finance a phone, I can do that, but that is independent of my cellular service.

For me, it’s either the Pro, or I’d rather switch to the Samsung Ultra. And I’m not exaggerating. I’ve always bought Pro iPhones since the iPhone X came out. The standard ones always look and feel low-tier to me.

I got the iPhone 16 Pro, my wife the iPhone 16 Pro Max, and our daughter the iPhone 16 Plus.

I can already say that these iPhones are the absolute best we have ever had. I am running iOS 18.1 Beta, and my girls iOS 18, and probably part of the joy is the OS, but the phones... WOW.

Our mobile device ecosystem is complete, with us using one M4 iPad Pro (on iPadOS 18.1 Beta), two M2 iPad Airs, and Apple watches.
I would hope that the newest models are the best ever.

I upgraded from a iphone 13 pro to a 16 pro and the screen, speed are great. I even like that apple finally used a usb-c port instead of the dreaded lightning. I got mine nearly free from att.
Same upgrade here. I'm also really liking something I considered minor at first -- the always on display. Without wasting any noticeable battery life I can always glance for the time or to see if I missed some notification.

And the other day with the Verizon outage my wife and I kept in touch while I was out for a long walk using the satellite features that only first appeared on the iPhone 14.

For me and many it's not worth upgrading every year but going from the 13 pro to 16 pro had some nice bonuses

Why not 15 then? Same USB-C and screen.
Well for me it's the sum total of other minor things. Longer lasting battery. Better heat dissipation. Higher resolution macro camera. Lately I generally wait about three years to let improvements accumulate to the point where I think it's worth an upgrade. And I get a new phone before I start pondering whether to replace the battery.

3 generations apart it’s fine but there’s absolutely no point to upgrade from the 15PM. I tried to convince myself many times but failed. I used to upgrade every year since the 3GS 🤣.

“The benefit of the A18 Pro is support for both current and future Apple Intelligence features coming in the next few years.”

The latter part of that statement in the article is highly speculative. We really don’t know the future AI chip requirements.

Agree. I was just looking over the side by side spec comparisons on Apple for the 13, 14, 15 and 16 pros. I noticed that the 14 to 15 was las tiny a change as the 15 to 16. There was a more significant upgrade going from 13 to 14. This is why I find it odd when I hear some complain that this is the FIRST time they won't be doing a yearly update -- why did they update from 14 to 15? I did yearly through iPhone 4. Then got the 6, 8, 13 and now 16 pros

My wife and I have ours coming between October 23-30th. Hopefully earlier than that… I know Apple likes to be very conservative on shipping times.
