Three inches of snow here yesterday morning... enough so the plows were out. It was gone from sunny spots in the lawns by afternoon but the forecast says if I miss it (or even if I don't), then more will be delivered tomorrow night. This must be the bill for the nice long Indian Summer we had lingering into early November last year. I knew there'd be a tab to pick up at some point. :D

My wife was up in PA, they had some pretty serious snow - I was here in FL, I was riding my bike with shorts and flip-flops :D
Damn! Well although we have thunderstorms forecast tomorrow, we have sunny spring like weather forecast this weekend.

I'm in Boston and it's snowing..

I'd sort of expect this in NNY but not here

This is been a long time. My Mother (when I was young) spoke my birthday May 1969 she had to be taken to the hospital (when she got mine birth) on a snowmobile to the hospital to have me in May in Upstate NYS! So this is just like the older times!

Wow! Good job you didn't insist on entering the world along the way on that trip...

We don't get quite the cold air temps we used to get in central and mountain NY, and often max down for the season here at -25º instead of -35º. Even the USDA noticed and pegged hardiness zones in the northwestern Catskills at 5 now instead of 4 starting in 2015. I don't quite have the nerve to try growing peach trees but I might try a cherry tree variety aside from the cold-hardy Montmorency (a pie cherry) that people favor here.

The late summer lingers into early November the past few years. The killing frost was so late last year the weather services warned us they were not going to put up frost warnings any more because "the growing season is well over already."

But when we do get a snowy winter now, it extends much, much farther into calendar spring. My snow plowing guy must think this season's not really over either, as he has not sent out his bills yet. A couple times in recent years he had to remount his plow blade for mid- or late-April snow dumps too big to ignore. Ugly work plowing rural driveways that meanwhile have got muddy from near spring conditions.

We have four inches total snow forecast for the rest of this week but it's typical spring snow bringing an inch or so overnight, and it's gone by noon. Still our high temp forecasts through Saturday are 28-34 and the lows are below 20, so it's only the sun and wind saving us from snow buildup. Still no red winged blackbirds with their buzzy spring greetings. When I hear them I'll know the season has changed!

This week we’re slated to be in the low 90’s. On the flip side, I’ve had to put on a jacket when I go back inside.

Spring is slowly coming, Yay :)

Hopefully no more backlashes of snow now.
No one can be really certain yet though, not after how the weather have been the last months.
Started to dream of laying on a cliff out in the archipelago on sunny days

I heard much the same story about my birth in middle of October in SW Michigan. On a lighter note my wife told me yesterday that it was in the high 60's low 70's at home in Germany so my daughter is headed back to warm after being cold over here for 10 days.

Mix of gloomy and sunny weather. Warm and cold at the same time. Yuck. Never thought I'd welcome scorching triple digit heat.

I'd love to lounge in the sun if it were warmer out there, but there's no sun and it's snowing.

The guy who writes about weather in the Boston Globe dared today to breathe the word nor'easter back into print at this point in a spring season we can't even say has really arrived yet.

Obviously, our cold and active pattern from March is still continuing, but I do see somewhat of an end in sight next week. Before that happens, however, we will have to go through one more nor’easter Tuesday. This system is likely to bring a cold rain or some wet snow to Southern New England. Presently, I would say accumulation will be on the lighter side on the coastline because of where we are in April.

Apparently an unsettled system will move through towards the midweek period. At least out where I am in the northwest Catskills, the three or inches of snow we're supposed to have collected here by tonight will probably have turned to slush by day-end tomorrow when it's supposed to get up to 34º. As for that nor'easter... ugh.. keep that window closed: ban any more April snowstorms!

Anyway for now it's picturesque, like a snow globe, unless you're trying to drive a school bus through it. I just saw a county plow go by again so help is on the way for everyone but the highway superintendents looking at blown budgets.

A sea of green
75 degrees on my morning run today. I really wanted to take off my t-shirt, but no one wants to see my lizard-belly white stomach.
It might go over better if properly accessorized. An iridescent blue whip-like tail is a classic look.

Oh, and pinstripes. How could I forget pinstripes.

In fact the ordinary lizard that may be white-bellied doesn't accessorize, it just plays the hand.... er, belly... that it was dealt: orange, yellow or white.

Excerpt:

Orange-bellied males are brutes that invade other lizards' territories to mate with any female they can hold.

But while they're gone, yellow-bellied males sneak deceptively onto the vacant territory and mate with undefended females.

White-bellied males guard their mates closely and ally with other white-bellied lizards to keep the yellows at bay.

Thus the analogy to rock-paper-scissors — orange force defeats white cooperation, cooperation defeats yellow deception and deception defeats force.

The researchers predicted this species would play the modified rock-paper-scissors game due to a high population density, "which allows a despotic type to flourish, which sets up conditions for cheaters, which in turn sets up conditions for cooperators to invade," Sinervo told LiveScience.

In practice, this game of sex leads to a steady cycling of which lizard color type is prevalent every four to eight years.
EDIT, to get back on topic: and when "uh, it's cold"... they all just hibernate....

I had no idea how complicated the color of my belly would become.

The lizards here don't accessorize well, because the cats keep biting their tails off. That might be my problem. I checked, I have no tail.

My fingers are cold. It's 75 indoors right now. Maybe I should shut off the AC. Or hibernate.

Notes from the land of endless winter: mid-April but the ground's still frozen.
This is just so wrong... first of all it has been snowing this morning.
Second, the forecast is for wintry mix or more snow tomorrow and Tuesday.
Somewhere in this thread I said I'd not be complaining any more.
That was also an inaccurate forecast. These temps are Fahrenheit.

I remember when in mid-April, Winter was over! When we lived in Minnesota, usually about this time of year, the nursery’s would be open and people would be browsing the plant isles, even though the last freeze date is something like 15 May. We have friends flying down from Minneapolis to visit us today and they got a big dumping yesterday.

Are you in the low 80s? In East Central Texas, it’s been unseasonably cool, and the high were in the low 70s. I’ve noticed the weather people here never mention cold fronts. Just that it’s going to be cooler tomorrow. I find that a bit odd after living up North for 3 decades where warm and cold fronts were standard terms.
