Morning all, after the hype of the S7 launch yesterday I can now focus on the next main event, the new MBP! What a year for Apple taking my money!!

Nice one for setting up this thread @Jinjin

I’ve not properly looked at any potential spec yet, I know mine has to be 16” with a high level of RAM & storage. This may actually replace both my 27” iMac & old MB Air now as my goto Apple device. My work have given me a Bang & Olufsen laptop & 2 big new screens with keyboard, mouse etc. for remote working.

So I might fully max out my MBP. Sorry if I’ve missed it, but any word on potential pricing yet?

out of curiosity... anyone ever buy the apple leather sleeve for their previous MacBooks?...

... just me I guesss 😫

hoping the new 14" are not significantly larger than the current 13" models, then I can get some use out of the damn thing!
I bought one for my MB Air! That Apple leather sleeve is the luxury no expense spared option! Really swanky sleeve but I found I just wasn’t using it enough so wasn’t feeling the value for money. I eventually flogged mine on - it was 13” for the Air not 16” that I’ll now need for the MBP.

I’ve got a black leather laptop bag that will do for now unless I see something better.

I’m in dire need of upgrading my 2016 MBP. Base 14” with 512gb and 16gb ram would be perfect for me. Just hope apple don’t screw us over with a ridiculous price tag like 1800 or higher.

Have to say I’ve been paying more attention to the 14” rumours suggesting prices starting around the price of the current intel 13” at £1799 for the base model (16GB/512GB SSD).

Apple current charge £200 for 8gb so £400 more to get it up to 32GB.

£200 for 512gb more storage.

I can see me dropping ~£2400 next week on this

Bang & Olufsen don’t make laptops (if they did they’d sure give Apple a run for their money). Assuming it’s one of the HP Elites with the B&O branded audio? They’re not too bad as far as PCs go - although the bar is pretty low. Still a god awful trackpad on them though - no idea why it’s only Apple who seem willing to invest in getting these right!

Wow ok so we are looking at about £600 extra for both the increase to 32GB RAM & 512GB more storage.

My budget is around the £2K mark but I’ll go a bit higher if this will replace my 27” iMac. Thinking the 16” will be even more eye watering.

I’ve never not had a full Apple desktop workstation before at home but my new work set up with 2 screens should suffice for that now - plus that’s Microsoft driven.

Yep I should have said HP Elite with the B&O audio! I made it sound exclusive B&O ? We’d all like that! It’s the top end Elite whatever that is, now my Companies choice of remote working laptops. Agree, the trackpad is shocking & a world away from the MB’s! It’s also the reason why I’ve also got a full keyboard & mouse connected!

Will be something if the 16” price is any lower than the current 16” base at £2400 (though rumours said the bases models will be 16gb/512gb combo).

What are people using for external monitors? Fancying a decent thunderbolt screen for the desk now at home.

Dell UltraSharp U4021QW. Love it.

Will check it out. How many thunderbolt inputs does it accept?

The Samsung cj791 seems to tick a lot of boxes. Can have 2 TB inputs and charge a Mac from one one, does picture by picture so I can have both work and personal Mac connected to the same screen. Just not overly keen on the 1500R curve as it’s quite a deep screen. Would love one which supports AirPlay too.. no idea if such a thing exists!

I have £2600 saved, so I’m going to get the best 16” MBP I can for the money. If that’s what the rumours base are, then I’ll be happy with that. If it’s £200 for the 1tb then I will do that.

Hopefully my corp Apple discount works to knock off a little bit.

Was hoping the same but looking at the corp store they don’t even currently offer a discount on the M1 iMac. This scheme tends to hold out on discounts for the new stuff

Wise to assume the higher price and then you could only be impressed if the come in cheaper!

I’m hoping apple do live up to the hype on these machines though. The iPhone and watch event weren’t the most memorable

Noticed that too, however the M1 MBP are, £115 off a 13” 1tb 16gb

Yeah I assumed it was due to them being around a little longer. I’ll have to have multiple bowsers running (assuming they’ll be available post event) with the corporate store and retail

We use ‘perksatwork’ at work which gives us access to some discounts. 6% off £2400 wouldn’t be bad!

Yeah I agree 6% off would be great. We use rewards gateway, but I work for a company owned by WPP we have another main rewards network as well. Gives slightly better discounts on Dell and HP etc.

I'm after a 14" Pro, had my Pro since 2015 now and it's showing its age.

I want at least 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and 120Hz display for the high price they're going to charge.

Only 1 TB input to be fair, along with Displayport and 2xHDMI

It’s a 40” 5K2K (5120 x 2160) ultra wide curved screen
