Got 200GB 5G smart plan for £20 after much haggling in chat... those of you getting a better deal I would guess don’t have smart plans or have more ammo to fire on the loyalty point (perhaps you have a special discount eligibility or multiple lines... I have none).

Sounds like a great deal. Were you out of contract?

My pre-order with Very is now showing as cancelled due to no stock within my order page! Shame as it was with an £80 discount. Not sure if it’s just because I ordered Silver which seemed to be difficult to find anywhere.

I have a pre-order for pacific blue with Carphone Warehouse but my bank didn’t let it go through the first time, and they had to call me to take payment again 6 hours later. Not sure if I’ll still have launch day delivery now?

..(still got the £849 Amazon pre-order but I’m just treating that as cancelled)

I’ve just upgraded my sim with EE, managed to get unlimited everything with Apple Music on a simo for 24 months. Works out at £22.40 with my discount code!
EE's plans make no sense. If I go on and look at upgrades (I'm on an out-of-contract SIMO plan at the moment) I see (all 24mo contracts):
£28/mo unlimited everything Smart plan w. 1 smart benefit included
£29/mo unlimited minutes/texts 100Gb Smart plan w. 1 smart benefit included (w. "reserve data")
£33/mo unlimited minutes/texts 200Gb Smart plan w. 1 smart benefit included (w. "reserve data")
AFAIK the reserve data thing lets you keep using data at a slower rate if you go through your allowance. Surely you don't need that if you have unlimited data, so who would go for either of those more expensive plans with less data? Why do they even offer them?

[edit] sorry, was a bit over-enthusiastic with the copy/paste originally and missed off the data amounts for the more expensive plans...

I think that this is probably true. Are you able to elaborate? What 'use patterns' are detrimental?

Based on my wife's experience, the anecdotal worst has to be letting the battery drain all the way down to zero, followed by a full charge.

She regularly did this with her XR and the battery health was in the low 90s after only a year compared to mine in the high 90s for the same time period.

If I'm at my desk, I stick my phone on a wireless charger and just let it top itself up.

Edit:

A colleague of mine also has a shagged battery. He's forever pestering me in the morning to borrow a charger as he doesn't charge overnight for some reason.

Hello everyone for the first time this year! :D

Hope you're all good. I've pre-ordered iPhone 12 Pro in Pacific Blue for delivery on Friday. Not sure if I want that one or the Max edition.. thought it would be a good chance to at least check out the new blue and then make a decision. Currently have the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Ordered the Magsafe charger too just to check it out!

having checked my 5G coverage at home, there isn’t any there, however my work address does have 5G coverage, however looking at the map, my office (the circle) is about what, 10 feet from no coverage. Hope I’m not that close is fluctuates between the two

Is anyone here with ordering from Currys?
May I know how the stock situation stands for launch day delivery order?
I contacted web chat and specialist say no idea when the stock will be in.

Can anyone who’s with EE help me? I’m looking at my upgrade options when logged into the EE website and the plans are confusing.

E.g there’s a plan which is labelled 200GB Data - Smart Sim and is £25 p/m. One of the bullet points under that states
  • 5G available (if your phone is 5G)
Then there’s another which has exactly the same bullet points as the plan above but is labelled 200 5G Data and is £33 p/m

Is this like the old 4g plans where the cheaper plans throttle the download speed and the more expensive plans have max speeds? I’ve clicked on both options and there’s nothing else stated to show the difference between the 2 other than the name of the plan.

Whoever uses spigen cases, what the difference between ultra hybrid and liquid crystal. I can see a difference of £1 in price but not sure which is the best? They are both clear
Covered. ESR and TORRAS have a couple of good options
thanks will get covered! Would the 11 screen protectors fit the 12?

I don't believe EE throttle on 5G, but that just may be me

Awesome. I seem to be asking everyone who’s getting a deal on EE. Were you getting a loyalty discount?
No don't reply to me, I've just joined EE

I’ve just posted about my own confusion about the EE plans. Some are labelled as 5G data, others are not. However, the plan features state they are 5g ready.

Thanks. If they don’t throttle I can’t explain the difference in price when the features of the plan are exactly the same.

I agree, it makes no sense at all. It’s all very random. The tariff I picked says 5G included, but then there is an unlimited 5G tariff available for more money! I

I’m made up with the deal though. The Apple Music makes it worthwhile. Saving £10 a month now as I use it for my music anyway!

If you are looking to upgrade your sim contract with ee its worth asking them to throw in the free Beats X headsets. They were on their website up till last week but with iPhone 12s they pulled the offer. I asked the agent on the chat and he threw it in

Tried everything with EE (using upgrade live chat and calling on 150), can’t get any cheaper than what they’re offering new customers. Don’t know how you’re all doing it!

Good shout! Just ordered from there instead.. will apparently get £100 cashback via quidco as well (new customer purchases of £400+. For anyone signing up, feel free to use my referral code too if allowed https://www.quidco.com/raf/3626986/) - hopefully the date doesn't slip when the order confirmation comes through!

Hi Luke can I use this on my existing Quidco account if I buy the iPhone with my partners new very account. I have claimed from very before (my account) on this Quidco account so not sure if it’s an issue. Secondly if we use a code to get further discount - £30 off for new customers will the Quidco still track? Thanks

Sorry if this has already been covered but I’m upgrading from the 5S to the 12 mini and will be getting a screen protector should I get one with the notch cut out or fully covered. Thanks for any advice
I'm really not sure that it matters. I use a Spigen Glass protector which is excellent but does not cover the notch.

I'd be interested to know why anyone thinks that the better option is to have the notch covered.

I do love a good case conversation on this thread usually.. I've had a couple arrive already and a couple more options today to have a look at!

Does it matter either way? I've ordered the Spigen one with their top notch tool to getting it to fit perfectly, had the same last year!
