So I wanted to check out the new phones “in the flesh” so visited the local Apple Store at the weekend to do so. Was swithering between 15 Pro and Pro Max. Have used the 12 Pro for the last few years and was not sure if I could deal with the size of the Pro Max. Turns out it’s not as big as I thought, seems manageable, so I’ve just ordered a 15 Pro Max in blue, on the zero % Apple finance and with AppleCare. Took the £300 trade in on the 12 Pro, seems fair enough. Need to wait until the end of October to get it but that’s fine. Gives me time to research and find a decent case.

I also had the £5 contract until they (against my instruction) solved the migration by deleting my contract and adding a new on at £7. That required a tense phone call to resolve. Then another time they migrated me by adding a second contract and leaving the first running at the same time, so I was initially paying £12.

They are rubbish in my experience. I’ve done this about three or four times and they only ever got it right one time.
Yeah I’m still on the £5 contract so I’ve been lucky but I have to say every time I’ve called them to transfer the data plan to a new watch, the guyscI’ve spoken to seem to know that what to do so I guess I’ve been quite lucky

I’ve kept my Apple Watch Ultra 1 this year so haven’t had to transfer my data plan to a new watch.

Has EE improved the process like the phones or does it still require a phone call to get sorted out?

No, unfortunately it’s still the same process as it was when Apple introduced cellular for the third generation of watch. So when I restore the back up to a new watch and try to re-add the data plan, I get the 03 message with advice to call EE. It’s not that difficult though. I just take a photo of the EID number from the box as it’s so damn small to read and make the call to EE. They all say it takes about 24 hours for the new watch to update with the new plan but every time I found it’s normally done within 10 minutes.
I’m sure it could be easier. I think some of the carriers in the states allow you to transfer the plan yourself. I’m not sure about other carriers in the UK but I think that because EE attach your data plan to an EID number, it has to be transferred to the new watch as each watch has its own unique EID number

If I did that the price to go up because my price is locked in when EE introduced cellular for the watch. The transfer process is quite straightforward And I’ve done it every year… unpair your watch, keep the data plan, set up the new watch and when you get the 03 message, call EE and give them the new EID number and it’s normally all sorted within an hour
Exactly this. I’ve done this with new watches but also about 2 weeks ago when I had my S7 swapped under AC+

Just use InventoryWatch. It's the quickest/easiest way.
Is there anyway to get notifications through the inventory checker or is it still a case of having to keep it open and refresh continually like the Apple app?

Well after days of indecision, I returned my launch day 128 Pro Blue for a 256 Pro Max Blue that I managed to snag with an in-store reservation. Only catch was I had to drive 2 and half hours to get it 🤣

First time with a Pro Max so hoping I can get used to the size and that I don’t regret it.

For those trying to reserve using the iUP page - keep trying. Most of the time it was just a spinning blue circle. For me, the stock I wanted appeared in the middle of the night. In other cases I saw the page go down at anywhere between 22:30-00:00 to midnight with a message saying come back at 6am. In reality that page came back up for me by 00:30.
Congrats and thanks for this. When it came back up at 00:30, what were the stock levels like?

Decided to give the MM kiosk another try and this time my phone was graded as good (originally poor) and around another £400 added to the original estimate, happy with this as the sides were a little marked when I took it out of the case.
The machine then had a technical error and swallowed the phone having said it would return it (gulp). I’ve phoned MM who were helpful and have said they are manually paying me.
All in all a scary experience, doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t use them again but will think twice about the rollercoaster of the kiosk ride!
Final thought my phone was in the Apple clear case all year and the only part of the sides that wasn’t scratched was that open part at the bottom 🤔
those clear cases are a bit of a dirt trap.

Someone I work with had the same as you, the case would always let dirt in and then scratch the phone

Completely random which stores would have stock - it let me select between all colours and storage sizes for both models but then it was a lottery on finding a nearby store with the right combo which is how I then ended up with the two hour drive.

Normally I wouldn’t bother but obviously only had the 14 day return window for the Pro so didn’t want to risk not getting one at all and then being stuck.

I saw someone post a code for an extra 10% on a mazuma trade-in, but I can't find it now ... can someone please link to it or reply.

Thanks :)

That's great, thank you for the information.
I will have to remember this when I upgrade my watch next year.

That’s ideal! How did you set that up? Is that a custom alert? I see nothing in the iPhone inventory site for notifications?

What a hero! - Thank you.

Doesn't show in the basket, so do they just apply at payment stage?

My basket shows the code added, but price remains £510
its only on certain devices, sept10 only works for Samsung phones and normal tech I think

iphone10 might work but I think doesn't cover the iPhone 13 if that's what you're trading in

I’d always been an esr armorite screen protector guy, just pulled it off and put a torras one on, much better fitment on my 15 pm. The esr figment frame didn’t work well this year imo. Torras one is better and closer to the edges of the screen… just in case this info helps anyone…
