This lack of stock of iPhone 16 Pro Max, reminds me of the madness that it was to get a PS5...
It's ridiculous!

Still in the hunt for a 256, Black, ProMax

I went to Amazon as soon as someone said they’d got one there and, randomly at about 10pm there were quite a few different ones. They’ve been randomly popping up on Argos today also.
I’ve ordered the black Pro Max 256gb .. of course I’m not convinced I’ll get it but it’s worth a try. Delivery Sunday
I didn’t have Amazon on my radar at all until tonight

I'm appalled of how many people are doing this.

Just go to a store and check them. How can you spend over £1k just to see if you like it?

The waste that this generates is absurd... and makes you wonder if the phones we get are actually new; or just refurbished.
Apple's margin is so high that I think they take the hit here and any returned devices will never be sold as new. They may go into the refurb store, or used as replacements.

Ordered a white iPhone 16 Pro Max 256gb from Argos for collected 02/10 as a fail safe if Amazon mess up, this gives me time to cancel the Argos order if I get the black iPhone 16 Pro Max this sunday.

Argos wouldn't let me return an item I bought online from them because I opened the box , they only accept unopened or faulty items
That’s the norm for anyone other than Apple. Even Amazon wouldn’t let an opened iPhone be returned, they only allow that for their own devices.

Hubby bought a camera recently, he ended up with a grey import (it means it should not be for sale in Europe or UK, so no manufacturer Warrenty) and even though he said he didn’t want a grey import the camera shop would only take it back with a 20% restocking fee deduction.

Is it the bigger screen or the longer battery life that is the main attraction? Pro Max is getting close to the size of an iPad Mini, Me with my smaller hands and prefer to use the iPhone one handed I'll stick to the smaller Pro even if it cost £500 more than a Pro Max.

The regular Pro is approaching the size of the Huawei P30 Pro I bought over 5 years ago and I struggled to hold that phone.
Although I like the better battery life for me the more important thing is the size of the screen and being easier to type on the keyboard. Granted the Pro is still relatively big so typing wouldn’t be as bad as the smaller phones ( I struggle to type on my Mum’s 5SE ) but it’s easier on the Max. It’s more to do with having that much more screen real estate.

They don’t have a choice if it’s sold online. If they try to pull this ****, explain your rights, ask for a supervisor, wherever you need to do. It is, quite literally, against the law.

Yes they will; I've returned an iPad Pro and iPhone SE to them with no questions asked

As said above; it's the law re selling regs

Argos cannot refuse returns either

In the UK it's important to make the distinction between online and in-store purchases. The rights of return are different.

For online and distance purchases there is a right of return up to 14 days, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. (which replaced the distance selling regulations in 2014)

For in-store purchases there is no automatic right of return except for faulty goods. From Which:
Most retailers choose to provide a 'goodwill' returns policy, offering an exchange, refund or credit note for most returns.

You can only return store-bought non-faulty goods for an exchange or refund if the retailer has a returns policy.

It's worth noting that shops aren't required by law to have a returns policy, but if they do have one they must stick to it.

Returns policies are usually displayed on receipts, on signs in store and online. You can also ring the retailer's customer services line to find out about its returns policy.

Currently in Barcelona- walked into an Apple Store that had the PM in 512 in black and white.

Probably the only benefit of leaving the EU is VAT free shopping! Just walked out with a black PM :)

Super lucky as they had none in stock yesterday…standard Apple warranty in Spain is 3 years too :O

White 256 PM in Apple Watford. That wasn't there an hour ago!

Edit: Ignore me, it was a Pro... (but that wasn't there an hour ago either)

I did wonder whether InMotion would have any at BHX next week. Only flying to Belfast though....

You have to register it for VAT free, there’s an office in the basement of Corte Ingles on Placa Catalunya

The Apple store gave me the necessary Global Blue paperwork. Apparently need to do the rest at the airport
No experience of Barcelona airport, but have done this with other products at other EU airports. Worth doing a Google ahead to check on reports of the experience. At Munich it was a 2min job, at Amsterdam I had a fairly long queue. Also, sign up to the Global Blue app as it is easy to track. Note it does take a long time, but I've never had anything lost so far.

Good Morning All. I wasn’t going to upgrade my 15PM this year but called EE Thursday 19/9. To upgrade my wife’s 14pro for a 16pro. Her’s was in stock & delivered the next day 20/9. I then upgraded mine 🙈 to the 16PM. The chap said mine would be 3 weeks for Delivery. Had a text this morning asking me to log in to my account.

I think personally if the regular Pro had much improved battery life the device size wouldn't matter as much but for me, I got the Pro Max largely based on the better battery this time around.

Huh my iPhone 13 Pro has decent battery life. I think people just come up with stuff like this to justify to themselves buying a bigger and more expensive phone.

Yeah the pro max is more like an iPad than an actual phone. The regular Pro is starting to move into the overall big size, luckily it’s not crossed that line yet.
