Btw has anyone managed to pickup their reservation earlier than the slot advised? I booked it late on to give me chance to get over there but may be able to get there sooner

What determines whether it gets sent by DPD or UK Mail?

I’m being told mine has been sent by UK Mail but when I click the tracking link it says Syncreon is the sender with no tracking details yet.

Have a look at the first post. There’s a faq question about tracking with syncreon. If that works you may get your UK Mail reference from it

Just back from Manchester now with my Silver 256gb. Worth the drive I'm sure! I couldn't find anywhere to park and made it to the store 4 minutes before my IUP reservation window closed and was in a bit of a panic. The Apple employee who served me told me not to worry since they keep each phone for up to 3 hours after the reservation window closes just incase. Thought you might like to know incase anyone ends up in the same situation. Thank you to everyone with your tips and tricks for getting hold of a phone. It's been a full week of 6am starts and I guess perseverance won in the end. Hang on in there everyone! I can't recommend setting up email notifications on iStockNow.com enough. Thats how I bagged mine, jumping straight on the app after it pinged at 8am. Good luck!

So, yesterday I sent an email to Tim Cook, highlighting the issues and experiences that I had using the iUP process (this will be my 2nd year). Even mentioned that I doubted he would read the email.

This morning at 8:20, to my absolute surprise, I received a call from the “office of Tim Cook” who had “read my email with interest”. She apologised about the experience I (and countless others) had, and assured me that generally speaking this isn’t the way they wanted the iUP experience to be. Apple realised that this was the first year that UK iUP members could actually upgrade the handsets, and know that there were some lessons learned about stock allocation as well as giving iUP preorders some priority (as they had in the US with pre-authorisation).

I mentioned that people were able to circumvent the stock issues by reserving as iUP and then changing in store to outright buying and the lady was very apologetic. Apples model with iUP is to sign up as many people as they can to tie them into the iPhone (which is awesome business sense) but the various loopholes were causing allocations to go to the wrong people. She was in no doubt that people were reserving on iUP (non existing members) and then opting to pay in store outright to then scalp on the various markets. This is NOT what Apple want, and i'm assured that they value their loyal customers (admittedly it didn't seem like it this year). They are hoping to change the process next year to say that any iUP reservations need to go through at LEAST the credit check first (ie process it as an iUP) and if rejected only then can the customer purchase it outright.

She was offering to view my case personally, but i told her that this morning/last night (with or without intervention, not sure!) that my order had now been approved for pickup and i was actually on my way to the store to collect.

I thanked her for the call and told her that I was pleasantly surprised that from one email that was directly sent to Mr Cook himself, within 18 hours someone had actually reached out. I don't care how crap people think Apple as a company is or their technology is "so last generation", their customer service is light years ahead of anyone else out there.

Just thought i'd share.

PS...its been a LONG time since i was impressed by the build quality of a product (not saying that the last iterations of the iPhone were bad build, just got used to the standard they had set i guess) but wow...this thing is amazing. I feel like i've ruined the dynamics of the phone just by putting a clear full body skin protector on it, but running my fingers between the screen and the stainless steel, i can't actually feel where one ends and the other begins...this feels like the process is accurate to microns. i wouldn't even let my wife hold it...i showed her from far away :D:D
PM me her number

How much earlier do you think? I turned up about 2 hours early and they were absolutely fine with that.

Currently waiting at the back of the Covent Garden Store where it’s iPhone X central.

I am so nervous as I have a list of tricky questions to ask them regarding availability and credit checks!

Anyone in the Norwich Norfolk area wanting to swap a sealed 256gb silver for a sealed 256gb space grey? Purchased from Apple being delivered today

How is everyone getting on with istocknow..? I'm staring at John Lewis Liverpool stock level and wondering if it's realistic - says 4 256 Silver in stock - is the online operation different for JL, as the website has simply said out of stock for days..!

I just got home to my silver iPhone x and am now setting it up! The screen looks amazing at the moment and so far Face id is working so fast! I barely realise it’s worked and I just swipe up and unlock it.

Been refreshing all day and only seen some 64gb around 1pm, waiting for 256 so not reliable I suppose as says out of stock all the time for 256gb

Walk in stock?
No, there’s just so many people with reservations that it’s a constant cycle of people going through the iUP process at the back of the Store. I think because it’s closest to the stock room and also out of the way.

In case anyone is interested, you can’t join iUP as a student / someone not employed. But what you can do is buy the phone outright, use it, and within 14 days turn up with someone who is employed and get them to go through the iUP process with that Phone.
