Quick question - When upgrading to the new phone this September and handing back my iPhone 8 Plus, does this then pay off the remainder of the Barclays loan associated with the iPhone Upgrade Program on my 8 Plus?!

wow yes it is nearly that time of the year again!

Yes to the question above, as long as you've made 11 payments by then. Otherwise you'd need to pay what ever would be the remaining balance to your 11th payment.

FAQs on the apple site (bottom of the page): https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program

Do I need to contact Barclays to close my loan before visiting the store?
No, we’ll close the loan for you when you upgrade through the iPhone Upgrade Programme. If you haven’t made 11 monthly payments, we can take the early upgrade payment in store when you pick up your new iPhone.

Alternatively, could I take out a second iPhone Upgrade Program on the new phone, whilst keeping the 8 Plus (i.e. If I wanted to keep the 8 Plus to give to a family member, I guess I would then just carry on paying the £43.95 a month until the loan was paid off)?

yep, and as said above it depends on passing credit checks etc

I have to say I'm pretty 'meh' about the phones this year. The larger 6.5" OLED rumoured doesn't appeal given its size comparison to existing plus size models.

if I wasn't on IUP I think i'd have just kept my current X but as it looks like the price will the be same for the new Xs (?) I'll just upgrade to that.

I'm more keen on Apple finally releasing the AirPower and an update to the AirPods (hopefully more than just an inductive case)

...yea, I have to agree with you. I may actually just upgrade to the iPhone X this time around as the price will no doubt drop to roundabout the same price the 8 Plus was when it was released.

I really don't want anything larger than my current 8 Plus and it seems, the new phones are all gonna be either the same size (with less specs) or bigger.....

You'll have to make sure you start a new thread for this year (or whatever they're gonna be called!!): ":apple:UK iPhone (2018) X+ XS Pre-Orders and Dispatch Thread"
:)

working on it! ;)

rumours seem to point to the new "X plus" being the same size of the 8 plus model but you'll get a 6.5" OLED!

The price rumours seem to suggest the X plus might start at the same price the X did.. so 999 for the entry level.

I know i've sold myself to stick to the standard size but if the last few years are to go by, i'll end up changing my mind!

It’s strongly rumoured that the current iphone x will be discontinued when the new iPhones are released.

Can't beleive I can trade in iPhone 8 and or iPad Pro this early.
I'm going to review my devices next year though almost certain I'll complete iPad Pro contract during 2019.
I Phone 8-maybe or there could be alternatives -undecided at this stage.
Think a change of mobile network providers could be an option as i phone 8 was honestly expensive this year accross 2 year contract.
Though I'm not trading in just yet.
Is it me or have other iPhone 8 users noticed extremely low call volume.
I'm trying to.establish if it could be caused by recently activating wifi calling or if it's provider/network related.
Seems fine through bluetooth though very low via handset -I couldn't hear a voicemail today.
