Yes, I know, but I have an Argos store card that will let me spread the cost over 6 months. I got rejected by Barclays for the iPhone payments despite having an excellent credit rating???

Fair enough.

Well, funny actually I got rejected too. I actually work for the UK’s major financial regulator so have to have perfect credit.

I called Barclays and they told me it looked like a terminal issue in-store and to try again. They didn’t even receive the application to validate.

I did and I then passed. It’s odd, I have a mortgage with Barclays too. They said it was purely due to the volume or a connection issue with the terminal. The application attempt didn’t even show up on my credit file as a search.

Thanks for your response. That is very interesting. I actually tried it twice in store and both times got rejected. The first time it took about 5 mins to give a response, but the second time it was almost immediately. I contacted Barclays and they told me that i should check credit rating with Experian which I did and my score was the highest I could get! Barclays also said that there is an appeal process that I could go through that takes 5 days for a response so am considering giving that a try. Have you heard of this?

Did anyone get that belkin glass installed? very happy with it. The chaps in Manchester Arndale were very helpful!

I had one installed on my 7 Plus and was very happy with it; got one for my 8 Plus and was very careful with it-around six weeks later it cracked in half for no reason whatsoever.

Guess I could've got in touch with Apple but my nearest stores are either Meadowhell or Leicester and won't be going to either place anytime soon unfortunately.

For self impact damage of peeling?

Yeah both times they were and no visible damage had caused it. The smallest of knocks and they cracked the whole way up the screen. I literally showed them what had happened both within a few days of being fitted and they changed with no questions asked. Rumours have it the Belkin is that thin it doesn’t take much if anything to crack it...

Gosh, it's gone really quiet in here - does that mean that we have all received our shiny new iPhones? Loving my iPhone X here - it just works! And have never had a problem with face recognition so far.......

I had my phone exchanged 3 times already. My fourth phone still has bad GPS but at least it's usable. The other issues I had were related to weird screen behaviour when calling using the stock phone app/skype/viber/whatsapp.

Anyone else seeing GPS issues at all? It seems to have problems deciding on where I am exactly as the location dot floats about. Google Maps is equally bad, if not worse than Apple Maps as the direction arrow takes too long to settle. There are quite a few threads on the Apple support forums with users reporting GPS problems with their iPhone X's (+8/8+)

I see what you mean - on both Apple's Maps and Google Maps my GPS dot floats around like a captive balloon around my home area, but not really settling on it!

Indeed. I had the iPhone 5/6s/7+ and never ever had any GPS related problems. Quite to the contrary, I have always associated iphones with flawless GPS compared to Samsung phones, for example. My current iPhone X is better and can at least be used for navigation purposes. The previous 3 were rubbish at it.

I have had a support case open with Apple for over a month. I have been asked to submit numerous pieces of information including videos that demonstrate the problem, results after using different apps, reinstalling iOS, setting up phone as new etc etc. I am hoping that this is a software issue but Apple don't seem to care enough.

iPhone X silver ordered last night and I’m writing this with it. 5 weeks after launch I think that’s impressive.

Popped to Apple for an anti glare screen protector and black silicone case (love having the stainless poking out of the bottom).

Coming from 8 Plus the downsizing will take a little while to get used to but so far, so good.

I’m getting the hang of gestures, just about!

...do you think it's possible for somebody like me, who signed up to the iPhone Upgrade Program in September when I got my iPhone 8 Plus, to go back to my local store, and trade it back in for an iPhone X (on the IUP)?!!!!

Every time I see an iPhone X I start to drool + the iPhone 8 Plus is such a big beast, I'm really struggling to keep it in my pockets sometimes it's so huge!!!!

:rolleyes::p

I’m the opposite - I really want an 8+ as the screen and keyboard are bigger. Not quite buyer’s remorse as the X is very good.

Hopefully the X+ when it’s out later this year (hopefully) will keep me happy :)

I was the same. Bought the 8+, sold it on eBay, ( lost about £200 on it ) and then bought the X.

it got you finally

I don't understand why I would have to pay off the balance of the phone though? Surely, if I decided to do this, when I hand back the iPhone 8 Plus, that action of handing it back is essentially the same as paying off the balance, no (the monthly payments I am making are to pay off the price of the phone. Handing it back is paying off the remaining balance, surely)?

What would be the point in paying off the early 11 months worth of payments AND also handing back the phone? In a normal contract, when you pay off the balance, the phone is yours to keep forever - you wouldn't then also hand it back to get a better phone??!

Must admit that I am not sure how this scheme works, but I cannot see them expecting you to pay off the loan and then hand the phone back. I am sure it would be yours to keep and sell to defray the cost of a new one. Best thing you can do is phone Apple and ask.
