It’s about time Apple & Barclays let us Brits sign up for the IUP online.

You’re either credit worthy or not, I don’t see the point of it being in store only. Many other companies can carry out identity checks over the web.

At the moment i'm going to say that i will be sticking my current iPhone X from last year, that could change later on depending on what gets announced, if there is a big enough reason to upgrade then i will.

This is my first year in the iPhone Upgrade program. eligible to upgrade now. Can I expect an email from apple in the coming days so I can pre-order one and hopefully be one of the first to get my hands on one?

No one will know but hopefully they’ll look after IUP customers. I’m sure people on IUP with the 7 and upgrading to the 8/X last year got a mail but didn’t do much apart from telling them to preorder on the Friday

if you're anything like me, this is how it plays out...

1 month before keynote: "ah the leaks don't look like anything special, I happy with my current phone"
3 weeks before keynote: "let me just check the usual MacRumors thread"
2 weeks before keynote: "oh it might come in gold you say?"
1 week before keynote: "OK i've made up my mind and I'm upgrading to the same size as I've currently got.. the plus is way to big and wont fit in my pockets"
keynote:

"OK I'm getting the newest phone in the biggest size in the largest capacity... shut up and take my money!"

release day:

" Dave the DPD driver is on stop 2 and I'm 155!"

2 weeks after release: "OK, I've returned the plus as its too big and stuck with the smaller size"

I wish Apple would allow IUP customers priority with pre-ordering new iPhones - that would explain the £69 up front fee you have to pay (which I see absolutely no point of??) on IUP??

it a pretty usual finance agreement. You make a small downpayment and then the rest is spread over the term of the loan.

I upgraded from my 7 Pus to the iPhone X last year, i really liked the Plus size but the X was such a big jump last year. This year from all the leaks we've seen there really doesn't seem to be much that will make it stand out from last years model, a bigger version and a new colour but unless there is anything else we don't know about i don't think that will be enough to be make me upgrade. IF they were to add things like the Promotion 120zh from the iPad, split screen and things like that then i would be tempted, however we haven't seen anything like that leak.

On the other hand i'm hyped for this years Apple Watch Series 4, the leaked image looks amazing with less bezel more screen and just recently (yesterday i think it was) Ming Chi Kuo has said that Apple will add ECG to the Series 4 Apple Watch, for people like myself who go for a run that will be a big deal, also i'm still using my original Apple Watch and will really appreciate the ability to go for a run without having to take my iPhone with me :)

Who knows by the end of the event i may be saying "Yup, i want the new iPhone" i love the Plus size devices but i don't know if it will have anything different (apart from the bigger screen obviously) from my current iPhone X.

can only be down to the fact this is for high value and highly desirable items. The chance of identity theft etc and false agreements being set up would make this a high target for fraud.

but Citizens Bank in the States seem to be able to deal with this so hopefully Barclays do too at some point.

yup in the same boat. The only reason I'm currently telling myself for the upgrade is down to being on IUP. It's a no brainer not to, especially if the costs come down slightly.

The watch, airpower and pods are the things I'm most looking forward to. I've got a series 3 and looking at changing the to the 4. the resale values are not great for the watches, down 55% from the retail price. The ceramic ones even more so. Started another thread on this, but a chap there is selling his S3 ceramic circa £1300 for £500 inside a year

AirPods - im willing to give them a try. I'm in the group who have difficulty with apples standard EarPods actually staying in and not falling out. The times I've tried the AirPods in store, they 'seem' to feel more stable but clearly not done any real walking or exercise with them.. My current wireless headphones (Jaybird X2s) are dying.. they've got a life of their own, switching on by themselves, dialing my last called numbers randomly.. i sooo need to change them!

and airpower will top it off.. charging all of the above from one place without cluttering wires everywhere!

All the UK mobile operators seem to manage ok, or when applying for bank loans, credit cards, overdrafts etc

All that can be done online, and not in store.

Made my 11th payment on my X over the phone with Barclays yesterday so I’m all ready for preorders on Friday!

It’s still not showing on my iUP page in the app but I’m hoping it will update by Friday morning.

seems to take a day or so for the usual payments to show up.. hopefully yours will tomorrow.

I'm half tempted to do the same but it seems that others who have made their 11th payment (iphone 8) see the same current options to on the IUP page as me.. i.e. a link to find a store.

hoping this changes come preorder day

I’m hoping so too! And even if it makes no difference on Friday it should save a bit of time on the day of pickup, especially since I’ll be doing it on my lunch hour.
