good question

Good question, does anyone know the salary of a Mac Genius in an Apple Centre Retail shop located in UK (not USA)???

Cheers.

I tried asking someone I know who work[ed] in an Apple Store (who actually brainwashed me into being part of the Mac cult  :p) and he said he's sworn by contract not to tell people the salary prices and stuff. It's over minimum wage, but he couldn't say anymore... Apple is very secretive about EVERYTHING.

Best bet is to try and apply and see what they say at the interview.

I know you're asking about the UK so this isn't super helpful, but there used to be a guy that blogged about being a Genius here in the States, and IIRC he said he made about $35K/year.

I think Apple shut his blog down in short order.

A genius in a large US city (Los Angeles, New York) makes around $50,000, so I reckon a London genius might pull in between £22,500 and £25,000.

how do you know that.

I doute they make that much. It is a retail position and a lower level one at that so I would not expect a to stealer of pay. 30k if you are lucky.

normal? £12,500?? That's pretty low I'd say.

£10 an hour is roughly £24,000 year. I would say a genius is on £26'000 to £30,000. Anyways good luck to them most of them do a good job.

erm.. i dunno about that. especially with the economy hurting right now. i figure a mac genius makes between 10 and 13 and hr.

so lets say 12.75 * 37 hrs a week = 471.75 per week multiplied by 2 weeks =
943.5 per pay check.. that a month is 1887 times 12 mo. = 22644 per year.

and thats before taxes... lol, watch they're all roomies. haha

you also have to take into consideration that its retail and in retail hours get cut frequently, they also can get added if inventory has to be done. its not uncommon for employees to be sent home if business is slow.

It is retail, but they go through a lot of training/certification before they're on the floor.

Actually thats $24,531 a year. Your math says there are exactly 4 weeks in a month. 471.75*52 (wks in a year) is correct.

Right it's a 'retail' store, but their job isn't 'retail' their job is actually technical support than it is retail. I think a LOT of people here are missing that important point.

Those guys wandering around lost with Mac shirts are the 'retail' guys. They can't take a Genius place if one is missing and troubleshoot your computer, only a Genius is allowed to do that.

Think of the Genius's as those guys at Best Buy behind the Geek Squad counter. Yes, Best Buy is retail but the Geek Squad isn't.

Genius are similar but they're not confined to a counter top barrier, they'll wander as well and help out customers on the floor if needed.

The "It's retail so they don't make that much" arguement doesn't hold water. The store may be retail but the Genius's aren't retail.

So a higher than average pay would seem more appropriate. Especially if they are Apple Certified Technicians.

Nah I didn't get it. Was at apple store regent street so a lot of competition. A blessing in disguise really as it meant I could concentrate on my degree, but it does look a rather fun job.

Mac specialist pay range minimum wage to minimum wage + $2 per hour.. depending on experience...
I guess it depends on your local minimum wage.

Where I'm at, minimum wage is $5.85/hour. My Mac Specialists friends made way more than "minimum wage + $2 per hour" when they were first hired, and that was was for part-time with no prior experience!!
