Because I do not need 2 and I am not sure about memory. I currently have a MBP with 32GB that I have usually speared memory but 24GB seams low and 48GB too high and also expensive.
That’s the sort of behaviour that will eventually cause apple to stop providing the no quibble returns.

I wanted the 64gb m4 pro with 2tb ssd and high speed Ethernet. It’s now out to 9th dec. :-(

If you go for it do they take your money straight away or wait till delivery day. That’s a lot of money to be sitting in someone else’s account for, for a month. I could be making money on shares in that time.
For me, as someone who pre-ordered on Friday 1st, the money went from my credit card on Tuesday 5th and the machine arrived on Friday 8th.

@nonns "It’s now out to 9th dec. :-("
When I put an order in this morning (M4 Pro mini 12/24/1TB) it listed 9th Dec on the screen up until I closed the deal.
Whereupon it's immediately changed to 26th Nov.
Which is more acceptable :)

Aaahhh the sexiest bits of kit there are the 41cx and the 15c?

Yeah spot on and totally agree. I have quite a few more than those HP calculators - those are just the ones in use at the moment 😀

I still struggle with an algebraic calculator. I use a 41cx on my iPhone.

anyone else got a returns eligibility date of 25th November ? I got mine today and checked the order and have 2 weeks - I thought we were into extended festive returns.

(the mini is nice…but is struggling to work properly with one of my older ipods…lol)

Yep mine says the same and was delivered today.

Well support told me that I was good... but I didn't get much confidence that they knew the details because they wanted me to call some 0800 number.

I will work to the 25th Nov, because returns are automated - rather than having a support fight. But only, if I do need to return it. To be honest, I am disappointed that my iPod works better with itunes (Windows) than on a native Mac.

EDIT: Removed screen grab where apple support chat confirmed that items ordered that are delivered between Nov 8 and December 25 are eligible for return until Jan 8.

thanks. that was what I was told verbally... but I wanted the Self Help App to align (which it does not yet). Will give it a few days.

now... how to get a beloved old iPod Nano 6th Gen working with this marvel. itunes was awful, until it disappeared. LoL.

Interesting to see that BTO M4 Pro minis now seem to have a delivery date of 25-27 November if you order today.

That’s about 2 weeks ahead of what it was a day or so ago (5th December I believe)

Just curious, are you ordering it with the extra 10 Gigabit Ethernet port?
Received M4 mini yesterday with 10 GbE. It negotiates with my modem at 2.5 Gbps*.

*My real world download speed is 1.9 Mbps, but Fast.com overestimates it at up to 2.6 Gbps.

Truthfully though I'd benefit from 200 Mbps upload more than 2 Gbps download. Unfortunately my residential cable internet service only offers an upload speed of 50 Mbps, even though their business service at this same location allows up to 200 Mbps. I'm salty about it because other people with the same internet service provider got theirs bumped up to about 175 Mbps on the same residential plans with 50 Mbps upload. However, they live in different parts of the city.

the plot thickens, I called the support number 0800 0480408 to double check and was told that they have triple checked and the return date of 25th November is correct. When I challenged that, she advised that she had the discretion to extend it to 30 days from delivery (i.e. December 11th).

Confusion reigns, because I think their policy kicks in on the date of receipt not the date of order. Though the call handler told me that it was from date of order. This makes no sense to me and so if I did want to do a return then I would need to call them (rather than online click) and plead my case.

I suspect that it is a wider problem but the support agents cannot fix it. Merely offer a discretionary 30d extension.

If anyone's interested, KRCS have started their Black Friday Sale already (10% off any mac). That puts the base mini at £539.10, and the base mini pro at £1,259.10.

Be warned though, the returns policy is likely to be different from ordering from Apple direct, so check that first. I've never had issues buying from them though.

I ordered the base Mac Mini Pro yesterday and it will arrive tomorrow. Very excited to say the least!

Yeah I considered them as they had the NHS discount, but I then thought for the sake of £100 and peace of mind I could return my BTO without quibble, I just went with Apple.

However, if I can get 10% off for black friday AND NHS discount, then that's a different ball game.

Nah, I finally got the pick-up in store M4 Pro, so it comes with 512/24GB, binned M4 Pro and the 1Gbit Ethernet.

My current fiber connection is actually a symmetrical 1Gbit/sec connection, but honestly, in case of receiving a speed bump in the next 5 years, I don’t think I will take advantage of such speeds, so I’m happy with that.

What I’m not as happy about, is storage. With the Mac mini empty, those 512GB are actually 460GB of free storage. And even tho I have the 1TB 2014 Mac mini as a secondary machine connected to the network, and several external SSDs with 1, 2 or even 4TB, I’m not sure if those 460GB will be enough in the long run.

In case I really need the 1TB, I will downgrade to the regular M4. But I still have plenty of time to make up my mind.

Sadly they have binned the NHS discount, which I suspect is due to the Black Friday sale.

It can't possibly be from date of order otherwise people who had extended delivery times will have a return window that closed several weeks before they received their device!

Dunno... my return date is 2 weeks from date of receipt. Just that the extended returns period did not kick in because I ordered on the 7th (the extended returns started on the 8th). The best that I could get was a note on file - they can't change the date.

tbh, it makes me more likely to return it ... and if I want to, then reorder it... or get a different spec (I have the base model)... then I will get a decent amount of time to play with it.

My warranty ends Nov. 7, 2025, even though I received it Nov. 11. I wonder if I should call in to get my warranty extended 4 days.

What does this mean?
CPU binning means separating the chips into different performance classes (bins). That may be done by CPU cores, GPU cores, clock speed, or some combination of those. When someone says "binned SoC" usually they mean an SoC that isn't the top of the line, which in Apple terms usually means fewer CPU cores and/or fewer GPU cores.

Out of interest, what is your eligibility for return date (on apple store app) ? Did yours also not qualify for extended festive returns.

Returning items is free and easy.

You have until January 8, 2025 to start a return online or in store. Please print a free shipping label and mail your item(s) back to Apple.

If it matters, I'm in Canada.
