Well my Mac Pro showed up at the door this morning, delivered by UPS. So much for the theory that it was going to be delivered on the 13th, Apple... I'm pretty impressed that it was delivered less than 24 hours after I got the despatch notification, but am not so taken with the completely lacklustre 'official' tracking systems - sort it out, Apple!

All those who have ordered a Mac Pro and it hasn't been despatched yet, don't go mad...

what the heck, you have yours....post up some benchmarks!!

and congrats

Yeah, take some pictures of the inside too, I'm curious to see whether the card has lovely sword-bearing Ms. Ruby on it or whether Apple opted out.

Hi everyone,

I just got an e-mail from Apple telling me that my Mac Pro has shipped, I ordered it on the 1st September.

"Your order was shipped on 05.09.2006, and we expect your order to be delivered to your shipping address on or before 14.09.2006."

2.66GHz, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth, Airport, ATI X1900 XT, Keyboard + Wireless Mighty Mouse.

This is what the order confirmation said:
"Your order should ship on or before 29.09.2006.
We estimate that it will be delivered to your shipping address on or before 03.10.2006."

So I wasn't expecting it to ship for another 3 and a half weeks.

It might actually arrive before I have to head back to university. :D

That's honestly not fair, I ordered three weeks before you and mine hasn't shipped.

Mine is on its way

Apple's tracking system is a bit of black art to master, but the UPS tracking number finally works and I now where my MP is.

Looks like mine is out for delivery today:D

Getting mine on Monday - for some reason my RAM has been increased from 2Gb from my original order to 3Gb?
With BTO apple ram? And does it show 3 GB on the apple website or on the box or does it only show it in the "About this mac"?
I ordered 2GB as well, I hope I get a free upgrade!!
Fred
EDIT: Sorry I didn't saw you don't already have it. So I guess it is on the apple website then? Weird because it is not even ordering option.

Looks like Apple's Mac Pro manufacturing is up to speed...

My Mac Pro order (placed on 4th September) has just been shipped ( ) , that's only 4 days from order to despatch - impressive given that the spec included just about everything which would have held the order back.

This is the specs:
3.00 GHz Quad Xeon
2GB 667 DDR2 FB DIMM ECC-4x512
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
160GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive
16x SuperDrive DL
Airprt Extrm & BT 2.0+EDR-INT
Apple Kybd & Wrls Mgty Ms-B
MAC OS X-INT
Country Kit-B

I think it's safe to assume Apple has got stock of Airport Extreme cards and X1900XT Cards now.

I cannot wait for this to arrive :D

According to Apple, mine was dispatched yesterday. According to TNT Ireland, it was dispatched today.

Yesterday, according to my order status page on the Apple Store, the ETA was the 12th (Tuesday). According to the order tracking page on the Apple Store, it was the 13th (Tuesday).

Today, both the status page and the tracking page show my Mac Pro arriving on the 12th.

I wonder if anyone at Apple has ever heard of the words "accurate", "shipping" and "information" and of the importance of providing this to customers?

I got an email from Apple this afternoon inviting me to give my feedback on a call I made yesterday to enquire as to when my Mac would be shipping. I told them that the information provided during shipping and the wait for dispatch was useless and needs improving.

On a more positive note, I ordered a pair of Seagate hard drives (250GB - for OS X and 500GB - for all my data) which should hopefully be here on Monday.

What Specs did you order? Mine appears to be coming from China via Kuhne & Nagel then UPS UK :( and will no doubt take about 1-2 weeks to arrive here. What I find strange though, is that I've NEVER had a delivery from TNT Ireland, it's always TNT Nederland, UPS UK or TNT UK. I'm just wondering why yours is coming from Ireland and mine from China, seemingly it might depend on what extras you choose.

That's bizarre... virtually identical systems but shipped completely differently

Indeed. Surely it would be more economical for Apple to ship you (in Northern Ireland) a Mac Pro built on the same land mass? Weird.

Anyway, my tracking has been updated and my new toy has been "Shipped From Originating Depot". Whereupon it will do nothing all weekend.

Or will they continue transporting it over the Irish Sea? Let's hope the boat doesn't sink!

Those Mac Pro's sure aren't light... maybe just as well ours aren't together on the boat :p The wait really is agonising. I suppose you get used to lightning fast deliveries from other companies and then when you actually have to wait for something, its unbearable
