Oh, crap. Mine is showing as "out for delivery" on the tracking today. I wasn't expecting it, so my desk still has my PC and Mac mini on it.

On Friday it was shown as having departed from the initial depot. There was nothing showing all weekend and all of a sudden it's around 30 miles away from me. To complicate things further, there's a chance it might come when there's no-one at home, as I've got to pop out later to pick my car up from the garage.

Is there supported driver for this ATI Card yet? I heard people saying it not working on their Apple Cinema Display.

Could you have a look at Apecode Appletrack and tell me what comes up? I'm trying to figure out where my Mac Pro is going next, I could probably have driven down and collected it by now!

So far I've got:

FLEXTRONICS LOGISTICS UK., DAVENTRY, GB
11 sep 06 86 14 booking slot obtained Apple, Cork 12 sep 06
08 sep 06 00 04 Picking confirmed, EDI received Apple, Cork
08 sep 06 30 11 - Apple, Cork 09 sep 06

Ordered a Mac Pro 3GHz with 4GB RAM and an ATI x1900 and 500GB drive last week on 7th Sept and have just seen that it has shipped from Cork and is in transit with ETA of Friday 15th

Original shipping date was 9th October...

Need to source a decent 24 inch monitor by Friday. Any recommendations?

Too late! Sorry! It's here and it's glorious. I'm just transferring everything across. It's nice to be able to use one Ethernet connection to transfer all the junk from my Mac mini and to use the other one to surf the 'net.

Mine went via TNT, not Flextronics, so I'm not sure how comparable the shipping would be. On Monday morning, it was shown as at the nearest depot, it was delivered in the afternoon.

Comedy story time:

I was moping around the house, waiting for my Mac Pro. Didn't want to go out, as it would no doubt arrive when I was out. Early afternoon, the TNT van pulls up. It's here! I watched the guy out of the window as he went around to the back of the van and pulled out a package. The package looked rather small, so I wondered if it was one of multiple packages for some reason. But, no, he'd closed the back. Perhaps it was a non-Apple delivery.

Anyway, the doorbell rings and the guy's there with a package for *me*. He asks me to sign the form to say I've received my item. I took a close look at the package, as it had come open. It was from Apple (a good start), but the box was quite small and said "MacBook" on it. I said "I'm not signing for that, as it's not what I ordered and it says Emma (or some other female name on it)". I told him I was expecting a slightly larger package from Apple.

"Oh, I know which one you mean", he said with a grin and we went down the drive to the van, whereupon he got a larger box that said Mac Pro on it out of the back and carried it up to the house for me.

There is a in depth summary of my initial thoughts in the general X1900 shipped thread, suffice it to say that it's well worth the wait. It's simply stunning and it's the first computer since 1999 - apart from my Mac mini -that I've wanted to put on my desk. I weighed it last night - 26 kilograms (4st 2lb). It looks particularly fine next to my Eizo 21" LCD monitor.

LOL @ the TNT Mess up... He couldn't have gotten the box any more wrong :p He was probably terrified of lifting it out of the van given its immense weight :p

Really pleased that you're so happy with your computer Glen, I should be equally happy when it eventually turns up (its apparently reached the Walsh Western DC today, whereever that is, but it's still not in the hands of UPS for delivery)

It's the waiting that kills you :)

TNT are crap.

I was waiting for my mini and I was at work when they delivered it, so they left one of those "we missed you" notes which said I could go for it at any time, so when I gets back from work at about 8pm I went back up to go and get it. Handed the guy my paper, he went to have a look and came back empty handed... Couldn't find it.

Had to wait all that time to the next morning for it to get delivered... Bitches.

My order just arrived via UPS :)

Currently sitting in my hallway is a new Mac Pro, a new Macbook Pro and a 23" display - and I have work to do! Bugger!

Edit: On another note, the UPS delivery lady said they haven't delivered many mac pro's at all - it's quite a beast - the box is probably 30-36" high!

Mine arrived yesterday, a few days earlier than Apple estimated. Fortunately the hard drives I'd ordered arrived a few hours later

Absolutely stunning machine, I can't get over the speed. Handbrake is doing a 2-pass encode of a DVD which even on my old Power Mac G5 would have taken hours and hours and its done in about an hour on the Mac Pro. All I need to do now is get some more RAM into it but Crucial are out of the 2GB(2x1GB) Kits :(

I'll hopefully write up a quick review at some point for anyone interested in purchasing a Mac Pro, but I'm overwhelmed by the speed and simplicity inside. The Hard drive bays are a work of pure genius.
