still waiting -

productivity at work is down the pan today - people keep asking if it's here yet, some are saying reception have just called about a parcel !!! cheeky beggers winding me up:mad:

I'm another on the Byfleet delivery run. Spoke to the depot to see if they had any idea when it might come so I could go out at some stage and not miss it.

Normally they can speak to the drivers and get a decent idea, said because they were so busy today with these deliveries that they couldn't contact the drivers so have to just wait around and hope it comes earlier rather than later.

BINGO!

Touchdown in Macclesfield, Cheshire, about 5 minutes ago. The delivery guy (TNT) said they had a tonne to deliver, and said a driver colleague of his had eighteen in his van alone for this local area.

Congrats. Send him my way next!!!

Hooray, I've got my iPad in EN3 (Enfield depot). After years of wanting an affordable tablet computer, I finally have one. :) (Ok, the iPad might seem expensive – but look at the price of the Axiotron ModBook…)

One note of interest by the way: I live in a block of flats with an entryphone system, but the driver told me I had to come downstairs to sign for it at the entrance as he wasn't allowed to let his van out of his sight owing to all the iPads on board!

How's this for torture: mine is definitely out for delivery... to my mother's UK address. I'm living in Holland. So once it arrives there I have to get her to send it on to me (it's not launching here until July).

So, could anyone lucky enough to have received theirs confirm how it is packaged? I've seen a few pix but want to check the weight/dimensions.

I'm relying on the main box being less than 2kg and, from a US posting, it seemed the dimensions were roughly 28x25x10 cm or 11x10x4 inches. Is that about right for UK deliveries too?

Also, looks like the SIM and any accessories are being sent separately. Is that the case?

Thanks!

Someone else has already verified the dimensions, but just so you know, I've weighed up my WiFi iPad package (that is, iPad inside iPad box inside brown postage box) and the weight is 1586g. You (well, your mother) will be wanting to use either International Signed-For Small Packets or Airsure Small Packets, and with the maximum insurance available (£500) – giving a postage cost of £16.35 or £17.00 respectively.

TNT status just changed as follows:

27 May 2010 10:23:45 London City Out For Delivery.

This is for W1 delivery... seems there is 2 hour delay between change in status and it showing up on TNT tracker.

iPad has been 'Out for Delivery' for the past 4 hours now...

Got a text from a friend saying that they had received theirs - yet they are further away from the depot than I am. My local TNT must be working from the out, in. :(

Ok, one question...

When I was back in Miami, they used to deliver the ipods to the packageroom when I wasn't available at home even when I didn't sign up for it.

Now that I am in London and at work now, I am curious if they do the same?
I have a package room in my building... And normally they leave all packages from Amazon or Zappos or whatever...

Do you think if they will leave it to the packageroom?
I wish they do.

My ipad is on TNT and Apple says it's out to be delivered today.
I am inb Canary Wharf and the TNT office is London City.

Is anyone like me and have the accessories coming UPS and the iPad coming TNT?

Hi, yes, me too .. neither of which have arrived yet. Still showing as out for delivery on both TNT and UPS sites. I think patience is the order of the day today! Haven't had a shower yet in case I missed the delivery!!

Yes!!! Mine's just arrived! Now I can skive off work to go and sync with iTunes at home :D

Congrats to the rest of you that have recieived them, and good luck to those waiting. This has been a great thread - what will be the next big launch we all follow I wonder?

And finally well done Apple and TNT - I never doubted the delivery for a moment

Im thinking this too. Im about 15 miles from the depot and its been out for delivery since 7 this morning

This would be amusing if it weren't so frustrating - I have had Royal Snail, Don't Post Delicate, and Drop it, Hide it, Lose it ALL deliver stuff to me today. I'm going to wrench that feckin front door off the hinges soon !

But still no iPad from UPS yet. Argh.

Out for delivery in Norwich this morning at about half six.

Mine just changed from "Out for delivery" to "Shipment Held In Warehouse. Follow Up Actions Underway."
It has a time stamp of 9 in the morning as well, just an hour after it was supposedly out. Seems there's quite a delay with their updates then.

Is yours coming via UPS? Mine is by TNT and looking at both .co.uk and .com shows very little movement :(

Mine is coming by UPS and they are saying tomorrow, seems so unfair to miss out on today's excitment :(

Has anyone from NI spoken to UPS about this? What are the chances of being able to pick up from depot today?

My TNT info has been updated, somewhat confusingly though.

27 May 2010 09:18:33 Belfast Depot Shipment Partially Received. Recovery Actions Underway.
27 May 2010 09:13:18 Belfast Depot Out For Delivery.

What the heck does Recovery Actions Underway mean? I see a phonecall in my near future.

Spoke to TNT Depot Preston and gave them my details, the very nice lady sent a message to the driver asking for a rough ETA. She just called me back to tell me 'before 1pm'

Time to avoid speeding fines and drive home for my 'lunch'

:D:cool::D:cool::D:cool::D
