With all the rumours about the Apple Watch, not much has been spoken about the price point for those of us here in the UK. Recently Apple raised App prices for those of us in Europe, i wonder if this will also effect the price of Apple hardware including the Watch? obviously this is just speculation but all opinions are welcome

I personally intend to purchase the Watch 42mm with a stainless steel link bracelet. What are peoples opinions on price points for the Watch? i'm hoping that the Watch does not go higher than £1000 except for the gold version i think that may very well be over £1000. but what do you think?

I don't know. However I'm not paying anymore than £500 because this is just a toy to me. I have absolutely no need for it but I just want to have one to see what it's like.

You can get an idea based on the price they have for other products in US. For example the new iPad mini over there cost $399 while in UK cost £319. So if the Apple Watch starts at $349, then it would probably start around £299 here in UK.

£262 ish it SHOULD be if we take into account exchange rate and 20% UK Sales tax.

So £249, would be a nice spot I think that may be hopeful.

IMHO, £199 for the lowest would make it more a go and get one price, but can't see that happening for a long long time if ever.

Hopefully this is what happens, there are rumours that the Apple Watch Edition will go as high as £3,000 - £4,000 but I can't see many people buying one at that price.
Personally I like the look of the stainless steel version with the steel link bracelet and then buying an extra couple of bands such as the sport band for exercising and maybe the midnight blue leather band. But again it will depend how much Apple sells the bands for separately.

If the Sport edition starts at say £300 will the Apple Watch start at £400 that would be a £100 more for the saphire cover and a different band. I've done the maths at an approx. 1mm wall thickness and we are looking at around $1200 (£750) for the actual gold cost.

So, wild guess, £1000 ish for the Edition, perhaps up to £1500 max including a fancy strap and VAT

I hadn't really thought of it like that, but it is true that Apple will not want to price themselves out of the market. Personally I won't be buying a gold Apple Watch, I much prefer the look of the Apple Watch steel edition with the Saphire cover and the Stainless Steel Link Bracelt.

This is probably true, I think the Stainless steel version wil cost more than the sport edition, the question is by how much? No one but Apple knows at this point. I would expect it to be maybe £100 - £200 more due to the Saphire on the back and the watch cover I think. Also because of the stainless steel band. That's just my guess tho and I'm probably wrong. Overall I don't really want to be paying £1000 for the steel version even with a couple of extra straps/bands brought as extras/add ons.

This is what I have thought since Apple Watch was announced. Based on how they are listed on Apple's site, it looks like starting from the base to the most expensive. But then I got puzzled after reading comments here that sport edition will be the cheapest and I'm not sure anymore.

The sports watch probably will be the cheapest version, it makes more sense, the stainless steel will probably be the next one and then the Gold Watch Edition. I'm hoping the stainless steel version does not go over £1000 but only time will tell.

Somehow I doubt it. I Don't think that this is something that they will charge an extra £40 for a watch that is 4mm taller. Some people say that it's a women's size and a men's size, in which case I don't see why it would be more expensive for men.

There is no reason why they should charge different amounts, it's up to them.

Manufacturing cost differences will be minimal, and they can always average the costs out anyway between the two models.

Everyone says, yes it's BIGGER it will cost more.
But then this is a different market. Wearables. And in general you don't usually pay different priced for different items you wear, shoes, pants, jackets, shirts, as the costs are averaged out by the maker.

Unlike a phone, or a tablet. You can't help that you were born tall or short, big bones/small bones.

It's very common for things on the body to be priced the same.

And as I say unlike TV's Computers, Phones, etc etc, which are just preferences on what size, this is more a think you can't help

I'm sure Apple has considered this very issue and probably argued about which way they should play it.

We'll all know soon enough

Everyone just seems to be stuck in the idea of Apple are going to play this like OLD Apple would.

Perhaps new "Wearables" Apple will do it different this time, and not punish you as you were born to large parents.

I didn't think of it that way, I automatically assumed that Apple will be charging us more for the larger Apple Watch. But I supose only time will tell (pardon the pun) I do think that there will be lots of options when buying the Apple Watch, it may even be like when buying a Mac we get to select the processor, amount of RAM and storage amount that type of thing. So for the watch we will get to select which finish we want, stainless steel for example, the size of the watch and the type of band we want, hopefully with the option of being able to buy extra bands.

So you did the Maths did you. I would love to see the numbers you worked with.

If as predicted the edition version is made of 18 C gold for both the body and the band then I totally agree with those predicting £3,000 to £4,000.

I don't believe Apple is marketing a gold band are they?

Leather and Gold I believe is what they are offering.
No doubt such a band will be expensive.

It will be interesting to see how they position themselves in the market.
