Folks.... If 100s or 1000s kept demanding Unlimited Texts from o2, am sure o2 would Listen.

Its not like we are asking for something new, we just want a service other mobiles can have, plus folks with iPhones have this service and some are still getting it which aint fair...

Thing is most will read this post and go LOL o2 and LOL Ducky, and not bother trying :( :apple:

I had the option of popping the £7.50 bolt on , with my account on launch day , but i decided it against it.

I dont think they have updated the o2 systems in store yet, so it might be best trying in there.

Not quite the same, but if at home you can get free texts thru the o2 website (my o2). Not sure if this would work by logging on from your iphone when away from home tho?

eta: just logged in to check, but it's only 10 free texts so useless. Sorry.

i was well annoyed after visiting the 02 shop and having them tell me that the unlimited text bolt on was not avalible for the new iphone but ive just rang up and ordered one over the phone and been able to get the £7.50 unlimited text bolt on! wooo im happy :)

Hi all

Sorry I haven't been able to get back to u all any sooner, had a very busy weekend with the family!

Thanks for the fantastic response, it looks like the only way to find out is to get an iphone and try adding on the unlimited text bolt on after. Although i think this is silly, O2 should be able to offer you this or not. Half the company is unsure! a multi million pound company and we get this expectional serivce!

Dunc80 has said he is doing this and have ordered one, I hope you will be able to get back to us and hopefully confirm this?

I will take the risk and order an iphone and as O2 do have a 14 no quibble return guarantee so look like I got nothing to lose!

Try quoting the DDA at them?

I have and they said they are making "resonable allownace" for this by the new "family and friend unlimited text plan" where you can text 4 other friend or family, which sound ok but there is a catch.....

Your friends/Family gotta be on a O2 network! Not very practial is it?

Have I seen you around? I'm also deaf, and I have the iPhone too.

Could have bumped into each other, after all the deaf world is a very small world in london! PM me for my name and maybe you know me!

Cheers

RedTomato Tried to PM you, but you've set your profile to not accept PMs.

Sorry, have set this correct now.

This is cos I have just signed up to macrumors so I'm a new member and yet to have modify my setting, I have been a long time lurker so pleased to be finally an active member of this community!

This all sounds really confusing...

I rang O2 last week to ask about upgrading. I'm currently an O2 customer, on an iPhone tariff, but will be looking to upgrade to the 3GS at the end of this month. I'm eligible to upgrade right now, so that's no problem.

The woman I spoke to on the phone said that if I were to sign up for one of the new 3GS contracts I could not have the £7.50 unlimited text bolt-on that I currently have... my only other option, she said, is to keep my current contract and pay more for the phone itself. But by the sounds of what I've read here and elsewhere, this is in fact not an option. It seems that not only are O2 a colossal rip-off, but they don't consider it a priority to inform their staff of what they're actually able to offer customers.

Has anyone had any luck with this? If I can't get unlimited texts for a reasonable price (i.e. certainly not 500 for £5) I'm not upgrading, and I'll be switching to another network as well. Orange can do you unlimited texts with a reasonable number of minutes for £15/month. No chance I'm giving O2 more than the £42.50/month I already pay them, for much less.

That's a bit unfair - I'm not a big texter, so this doesn't really affect me, but I think it's bad that they've dropped this option. I'd encourage anyone affected to email (or, even better, write to) O2 to complain and also to feed this back to Apple: after all, it's the sort of thing they might take into account when reviewing what carriers to go with when the exclusivity period with O2 ends...

I've ordered a Business iPhone, as well I own a LLP Company in the UK

£30 per month, with free Unlimited Texts, and all the other bits that comes with a iPhone Contract...

:)

Good luck. Don't mention you've been told it doesn't exist. Tell them you saw it on their website and would like to add it. It's exactly what I did and I got it added.

I did exactly what you did and the other person, even mentioned that my friends has it done recently. Still wont give it to me, the advisor doesnt agree with it but said she 'not allowed' do it. she said that it was closed at 1st june. Did any of you (successful ones) do it by voice or typetalk (deaf users).

She also said that it is currently being under reviewed and i should keep an eye on it in future. i asked for a timescale but she couldnt give it to me,

any advice for me? I got abot 10 days before i have to send iphone back to them

thanks

Hey. Sorry to hear they didn't put it on the account for you.

I did it by speaking to a rep. He didn't even blink at it and put it on right away. Absolutely bizarre that they let some people have this and not all!

Been trying to get O2 to give me this bolt on for a few days now with no luck, looks like the window of opportunity has passed.

It's a shame really because 500 texts a month is far too low for a lot of people. With no alternative I'll have to be cancelling my contract before next Friday

Note: This comment is utterly useless.

I find it awesome how you UK guys and gals phrase plan add ons. "Bolt Ons..." Seriously, I wish we called it that across the pond.

I am confused now, because I have unlimited texts as a freebie it's written in my contract along with my 1250 mins. Plus free calls to all o2 numbers and 10 landlines numbers. I never had it before in the past but I upgraded to the iphone 3GS, as I can upgrade every 12 months on business and they put the bolt on for free. When I upgrade my tariff never changes just my phone and commitment. Unless of course I want to change my tariff.

I have just upgraded to a 3gs and set up a whole new contract.

I phoned them to try and get the bolt on, but they tried to fob me off with it not being available anymore.

I had a shot in the dark, and complained that they were not complying with the FSAs TCF initiative and would complain to the financial ombudsman (I suppose technically as the phone contract is a finance agreement they are still bound by this). The guy I spoke to seemed to be overwhelmed by this and after putting me on hold while he "checked with a manager", added the bolt on on :)

Suppose its just a game of pot luck realy on who you get in the call centre.

(and @fleshman03: It's only a Bolt On on o2, not for every network!)

had to get this off my chest, huge rant about this bundle!

omg dont get me started on this bolt on!!
i was due and upgrade and the iphone was just around the corner for release so i phoned up asking if i could upgrade to an iphone 3Gs and the guy on the phone said 'sure thats fine, but it will cost you an £170 for the phone' so i was okay with that, i then asked would i be able to keep my unlimited text bolt?' and he replied 'sure, i cant add it on yet, but when you get the phone ring us back up and we will be able to add it on for you' at first i was like, y cant you just add it on now?, but i just left it and waited for the phone to arrive hoping everything will be fine. got the phone, phoned up o2 and asked for the to add on the bundle, when this women replied 'sorry we dont do this add on anymore' so i had a rant at her telling everything that i was told and she said 'sorry you have been miss informed and we cannot add this on anymore it has been taken off the system' so i then asked her to cancel the contract and she said 'sure thats fine just take it into a carphone warehouse store and we will give u a refund' so the next day i took an hours drive to my nearest store went in and they told me that 'i was still able to add the bolt on, and they did not know y i was told i couldn't, it was still on there system and they had been doing it for people with the iphone' so i asked if they could add it on for me and because i ordered it over the phone only the person over the phone could add it on, which i found very dodgy, 'and if i wanted to cancel the contract they couldn't cancel it in store it had to be done over the phone and the phone would have to be sent off' so then i went home got back on the phone, at this point i was fuming! getting thrown different answers all over the please. being held on the phone for over 20mins a man came on and said 'no they cant do the bundle there is nothing on there system that can let me add the bundle onto your contract' so i told him all that i was told in store and he just replied 'sorry you have been miss informed'! to which i replied 'right i want this contract canceled now, im not paying for this months contract fee and i want my £170 back. which he replied 'sorry you have used the phone so we cannot accept it back!' silence for a few seconds... 'ok sorry yes we can yes we can' (good job he did say that other wise i would have blown my head off at him) so he then told me he put a load of notes on his computer, to take the phone back to the store, tell them everything and they will give me my full refund. an hours drive later i get into the store, went over to a girl at the desk told her my details and told her to look on the computer and read, she replyed 'theres nothing on here?!' so i said well there should b notes on there from the person i spoke to on the phone about me canceling my contract and u giving me a full refund, she replied 'no sorry u cant cancel that contract now, you have used the phone' at this point i was really not in the mood and just asked her to get me the manager. she got me the manager and he was like 'you cant cancel that here, we are not carphone warehouse' so i replied 'What! so you have a big sign out there saying carphone warehouse above the door in cardiff, and your trying to tell me your not carphone warehouse?' which he replied 'yes' just blankly! so i replied 'right mate, you either cancel this contract now and give me my money back for this phone or im going to sue this company for false advertisement' which he then replied 'ok il cancenl it now'
it seems to me the only way you get things done with carphone warehouse is if you threaten them! this isnt the 1st time this has happened to me with carphone warehouse, when i threatened to take them to court they gave me got £300 and a free 18month contract!

dont take out a contract with them at all they are useless!
and if u do get into trouble with them, just threaten them

sorry had to get all that off my chest haha
