hmmm, really not liking the idea of upgrading in a couple of days now that i've read this. there's no way i can have a contract without unlimited texts, which i currently have as a bolt-on on the cheapest iphone tariff.

thats what i done, 18 month contract for £29 a month, think it was something like 70mins and 100txts? but they would give me the bolt-on
try it out if u want, you got 10days i think to take the phone back, bt they wouldn't even give me my old tariff back! so now im with vodafone

I, too, was disheartened as to why iPhone customers are being barred from the unlimited text bolt on.

So, I wrote a polite email of complaint to O2 - stating I've been a loyal customer with them for roughly 5 years, and am paying them £44 a month for the next two years and there is no reason why they should cut their most highly charged customers off from bolt ons.

24 hours later, I got an email back from them saying they've added the bolt-on for me.

So, it seems, all it takes is a polite email addressing your concern with the policy. They CAN do it... so, I don't know why they just make it available to every one.

Good luck!

According to somebody on another forum, the answer is no . You can use your bundled txts for MMS , but once they are finished and you move onto your bolt on then you will be charged for each MMS you send .Whether true or not I dont know, but it does seem to make sense.

That sounds fair enough. So I would get 125 MMS and unlimited texts if I had the Bolt On on the £35 iPhone contract. Can't argue with that. I might have to give O2 a call.

I bought a Pay&go 3gs as I didn't want tied to a contract of 18 or 24months & iPhone montly tarfiff is crap. after a week. I called o2 to change over my old number to Pay&go sim & to cancel my simplicy contract. They put me through to the contracts dept & told the woman what I wanted to do, she put me on hold & came back saying if I wanted she could put on a free web bolt on which I jumped at because I use more txts than calls. So now I have 600 mins 1200 txts & free web. So I'm happy with o2. Just depends who you speak to in customer services I think.

How much do you pay for that?

I wouldn't mind a simplicity sim-only monthly contract as while my payg tariff for my 1g iPhone is very cheap, it's becoming a hassle having to remember to top it up £15 every month to get my 500-odd free texts for the next month.

I tried to set up a direct debit or standing order to do it automatically, but O2 told me there's no way of making it an automatic payment.

(Also as I make no calls, my account credit is just going up and up by whatever's left over after the £7.50 web fee is deducted.. )

how much was the phone though? about £400?!

Hi guys and girls.

Just registered here quickly to pass some information on....

I phoned O2 twice. The first time they said I couldn't have it as it wasn't available for the iPhone so I went for an extra 500 for 7.50 a month.

I rang them up again after seeing this thread and I started asking a few awkward questions and she said 'oh I've just found an extra screen with it on....'

So I now have the Unlimited Bolt on with the 35ppm contract on the 3GS.

It can be done!! In case anybody is interested here is my phone call:

Me: 'Hello could I add the unlimited texts bolt on to my account please?'

O2: 'I'm sorry we don't offer that for iPhone.'

Me: 'Oh. That seems a bit strange. Could you remove the free wifi bolt on the was included with my contract and swap it for the unlimited texts bolt on?'

O2: 'Hmmm. I'm not sure. I'll have a look for you.....'

O2: 'Oh I've just found a hidden screen...I can add that to your account to start from the 24th or for a small extra cost (about 50p) I can push it through so it starts tomorrow for you.'

Me: 'THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!'

So in conclusion. Be polite and be persistant and keep asking why.

Hope this helps people.

Old thread lol but for anyone upgrading if you do it online you boltons carry over to your new contract.

I notice nobody has posted here in a while... so, has anybody recently got this bolt on. Ive used £20.00 on texts alone this month! It kills me not having unlimited, and it sickens me that they charge £7.50 for 500! Anybody got it added recently?
