Ultrasnow Is Out!!!

does anyone know what the Virgin UK MMS settings are for the iPhone please?

also, i have lost the MMS option in my settings for some reason!!

How'd I get it back please?

rebooted the phone and now options are there in the settings..
 
I'm thinking about unlocking my iPhone 3G and then selling it on eBay.

The only thing is, i have no access to any other SIM in order to test out if the unlock actually worked.

I'd feel uncomfortable selling the iPhone on eBay as unlocked but not having actually verified for myself that it is unlocked.

What's the cheapest non-AT&T SIM i can buy at a store to just pop in and verify that I can make calls with a different carrier's SIM? I don't know anyone who has T-Mobile. Everyone is either AT&T or Verizon.
 
You can always stop by a tmobile store and tell them you want to test out if your unlocked iphone works on their network and then you'll come back to open up an account with them or something.
It will take less than a minute or find someone with a tmobile phone.

just a quick update on my problem with orange, i went into town and took a trip to the orange shop while i was there, apparently Orange UK don't preactivate their sims unlike every other UK network, so you have to register the sim with orange before it will work, Tested it with a friends already activated sim and it works a treat, so thats uk unlock all good, with 3G working on them all as far as i can tell :cool:
 
I unlocked 3 T-Mobile 3G phones today. Works great. Cydia's a little flaky with error message, but rebooting and retrying to grab the updates works.
 
As per previous post about being successful, I can confirm that I have got MMS and tethering enabled and working

Just waiting to see if MMS was delievered successfully

EDIT: the message was delivered successfully
 
quick ?, gonna do it right now, do i do a simple restore first, then another restore but holding the shift key the second time? the phone i bought is already on 3.0 just in case anybody is wondering
 
I've read everywhere that says if you want to use the phone on T-mobile to turn off 3G before you do the unlock. What if I'm unlocking my phone to be used overseas? I think I would want to keep 3G on. But then I can't test it temporarily on T-mobile before I go overseas, right?

You have left out a very important piece of the instructions.

"if you want to use the phone on T-mobile in the US to turn off 3G before you do the unlock."

The only way you can test an unlocked iPhone on the T-Mobile network in the US is on the Edge network, i.e., turn off 3G.

Right, in the US. Can I turn off 3G after the unlock to test it on T-Mobile in the US before going overseas?
 
if someone gets a chance who has successfully unlocked the phone, can they try to remove ultrasn0w from cydia (uninstall it), and see if it relocks the phone? I don't have a t-mobile sim card just yet to test it.

I have just installed ultrasnow and my phone cannot use with t-mobile. Can anyone please help me? I did everything it said on the tutorial guide posted on iClarified website. It keeps saying "no sim installed" message. I don't know what else to do.
 
Did you shut off 3G in the settings?
Try remove and reinstall ultrasnow?
Restart the iphone after installing ultrasnow and then put the tmobile sim in.

Please tell me how I find ultrasnow on cydia. I've never used it before. Have read the devs blog but still can't find.

If I'm unlocking to sell in the UK and am unsure what sim will be put in do I need to disable 3G to ensure it will work with t-mobile aswell as all others?

Then you can't have looked very hard



Ultrasn0w for iPhone 3G is ready!

1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
3. Run Cydia or Icy
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy. That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”! If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
8. Enjoy



Goto Cydia or Icy, add a a source of repo666.ultrasnow.com. Once you add it should open itand show Ultrasn0w, if not go search for it
