Mainly plastic, otherwise, I believe the weight penalty will be very significant.

No backlight bleed, at least, I can't see any irregular backlight bleed. But as expected, QLED screen can't display true black like OLED screen, so, it's still very dark grey but not black.

It's hard to capture the black screen in dark by my iPhone 6+. The picture make it looks like some bleeding at the top middle position, but those light are actually the noise of the photo (light reflection from the wall)

This screen is on, and playing pure black video

This is with the UI to let you know that it's actually playing video but not switched off.

Ok, super! Thank!

I would like to ask you how the CHG90 is over. Did not you regret that you bought it? Well fit into the apple ecosystem. Is not it cumbersome to use?
Now I want to buy this one too. Now there is a LG 34UC98.
Does it make sense to replace it? I'm doing CAD-CAM, internet, little game etc.
Thank!

If you are doing CAD-CAM buy a FLAT display. I'm only saying this because I know and want to save you from display issues. 38 years of CADD work, enough said.

Thanks for the advice. Now I'm using an IPS, lg 34uc98. I'm just thinking about the exchange. Now the action is on Samsung CHG90 ....

Do these 3840x1600 work straight out the box with a MacPro 2013? I have 2 D500s but looking to upgrade my Samsung 34 curved for the below: Dell is winning at the moment as its configured before shipping and warranty is really good.

LG 38WK95C-W
LG 38UC99
Dell U3818DW

Anything lower than 3840x2160 @60Hz should be no problem at all

Just be aware that to get the 75Hz refresh rate (like on the LG 38UC99), you will have to use DisplayPort/Thunderbolt instead of HDMI. I think at least one of those Dells also uses the same LG 75Hz panel, so the same will apply there too!

Think only supports 60hz at full resolution, but looks way better than my Samsung 34!

DELL U3818DW:

Resolution: 3840 x 1600 (Ultra-wide 4K)

UI Looks like: 3840 x 1600 @ 60 Hz

I mainly use Logic and have a 34” curved Dell. I would never go back to anything smaller which is why I’m not seriously considering a 27” iMac Pro for my next upgrade. That and the price.

Anyone using Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign with curved displays?

I guess something like Premiere and After Effects will be ok on curved, but what about the software above?

For your info. Combining Karabiner and NativeDisplayBrightness, you can use the Apple keyboard dedicated key to control the monitor's brightness again. I use this on my Samsung CHG90, work perfectly.

Volume key won't work on digital output (SoundFlower can be the work around), but still work on the 3.5mm output.

I don't really have much interest in ultrawides but I'm glad I read this thread anyway because otherwise I never would have known about NativeDisplayBrightness. I'm now controlling the brightness on my old Dell 2408wfp with my Mac keyboard. I always just assumed that was the tradeoff when using an external monitor on a Mac. Brilliant! Thanks so much for the tip.

I‘m working on a 4K 40“ curved from Philips and the curving doesn‘t disturb me at all.
for me personally I even find the curving relaxing, but the Philips is not curved that much as others with it’s 3000R. It is just enough, that your head doesn’t need to move much but not enough to disturb the picture.

Even works fine for CAD, like Vectorworks.

Doesn't bother me at all in InDesign, Photoshop or Lightroom. I think where it may pose an issue is CADD software as users have previously mentioned.
