...plus better GPU. A full upgrade minus the look

Have you used a 4 vs 4S lately? The difference is night and day.

A lot of these people also say the 4S to 5 wasn't an upgrade.....

In my book a larger screen, higher res and faster internals DOES constitute a substantial upgrade - hence why I think the 4S to 5 was one and why I'm sure the GS3 to GS4 will be as well.

You also have to remember - with many posters on here, if you can't explicitly see it, it wasn't an upgrade (unless its NFC or wireless charging....two relatively gimmicky features). People tend not to think about the actual technology that went into making a phone as thin as it is or the display as accurate as it is.....which is surprising considering we're on a tech blog.

Unlike some, I don't expect a reinvention of the wheel every time a new smartphone is released....though I do think something big will be coming in the next couple of years.

touche! I don't know If I even want to wait for the s4 or just go ahead and get a note 2. I really have started using a phone as a pocket PC, so having the stylus is important to me

Yes I was one of the people who upgraded from the 4 to the 4S because I wanted siri. Yes it was an improvement but not worth the upgrade. My GF had the 4 and I gave her my 4S when I got the 5 and she still can't tell much difference between the two.

Same here. The Note 2 is tempting and probably all I need. But at this point it's close enough to wait for the S4. Besides, I really want the (hopefully) better camera.

I don't take a ton of pictures, so that is less important. Would the s4 have the s pen?

Because she isn't a power user. The 5 apps she probably only uses is Messages, Phone, Facebook, Instagram, and Mail.

You really shouldn't comment on something you know nothing about. She uses many different areas of the phone. Only thing she doesn't use is siri...

he was mostly trying to get to the fact that the difference between the 4 and 4S is quite noticeable.

When people say the 4 to 4s was not a big upgrade was because aside from the specs apple didn't really add anything to it and it looked the same, they added siri and got a better camera but to the everyday people that use apple that really didn't wow them.

apple did not add lte 4g and kept the screen size the same while android was well on to 4g and bigger phones.

hardware wise the 4s was an upgrade but on the os side it was not and basically was the same exact phone that ran a little faster and got siri that could run on a 4 also but locked out

I may be wrong, but did the 4 have a retina screen? For some reason the 4 screen does not look as good if so.

from a quick google search the iphone 4 and 4s both have the same res retina ips displays

damn that is crazy. Someone I work with has the 4 and the screen looks bad. Maybe the saturation on the two is way different.

Could be different manufacturers. Which could mean different degrees of quality. Happens with LCD panels in monitors all the time.

It is definitely not a good screen. I guess it could be b.c I am use to the saturation of the iphone 5, but I know a lot of people with 4S' and I never noticed that bad of a screen.

doing a search a lot of people had screens that were warmer then others and some cooler in colors and in one thread the iphone 4 looked way better than a 4s and there is a bunch of bickering if you search about it.

It happenes on all phones and Samsung gets a lot of hate of its screens and I sell a bunch of phones on the side as my friends owns 12 private Verizon stores and I can tell you first hand Iv seen it with the gs3 also.I have swapped my gs3 a few times when selling them when I find a better looking one and the phone I have now is the best Iv seen and would love to give it to a review site to post about it.There is no way companies can calibrate every phone and just ship them with a default base setting.I hope Samsung just puts out a app built into its next touchwiz that will allow people to calibrate there screens and save it to the kernel to update the drivers settings on the flash so you don't have to do it everytime the phone boots up.

I really like the S3 and the Note 2, but one of the things that kept me away was the poor cameras. If they put a nice camera, like on par with the iPhone or Lumia 920, in to the next gen Samsungs, then I am game.

Were you shooting all the time with default settings?

I thought the same until i discovered all the scene modes and image settings in the camera UI and then i was like "wow now i can barely tell any difference between this and my iPhone 5's camera".

I prefer the camera, and all its features, on my Note 2 compared to my iPhones.

After seeing hTc's One I will put a hold on the S4. Like Apple, I want Samsung to make changes in their Hardware.

My Note 2 looks so cheap, reminds me on BMW. Performance & Handing but questionable Exterior and bland Interior. LOL I want Audi from the two.

I feel like the note 2 auto focus is way better than the iphones

The note and the s3 both have good cameras, but I do think the iPhone's is better. That's about the only thing I'll say the iPhone 5 has on the latest from Samsung. I think all of those pale in comparison to the Lumia 920. All four are good though, I was just expecting a little more from Samsung since they went so balls out on most other features. I'm sure the S4 will rectify this.
