Hello, I have a 13" 2019 macbook pro with touchbar and I saw my trackpad is uneven a month back. The left side is almost on level with the flesh.
Today it suddenly seems to have risen or something and come exactly at par with the flesh. Maybe I am just overthinking and being anxious or maybe it has been this way since the start. Could you please tell me how uneven is the trackpad on your macbook, in whichever way possible.
I pretty much described how my trackpad looks like in this thread but to sum up one corner is nearly flush with the chassis so that it is tiny bit lower when machine is cold and when it warms up during use it rises tiny bit above the chassis. It has been like that as long as I've had the machine and it has not gotten worse. My machine is like 10 months old so far. Movement is only say 0.1 millimeters total from cold to hot. It is just that it can be noticed as it is just below and then above the chassis level when it heats up.

Alright, thanks a lot

Do you have a photo of this?
I have tried to take a photo of my uneven trackpad few times but it is actually pretty had to take one where is shows because trackpad surface is glass and it is pretty well hiding this issue and practically it looks normal unless you look at it under very specific angle and light coming from certain angle, so very hard to see actually. It is something you basically just feel with your fingers. You can estimate the difference easily by cutting a small piece of copying paper and place it in the corners and then slide your fingers over it to feel if it is still below or above the chassis level. Also you can use it on the chassis side in case trackpad rises over the chassis level when hot.

Cant you just place a square on the laptop for us?

Not sure I got you right but placing anything straight over the trackpad and then taking a photo is not going to reveal anything because surface of the trackpad is glass and even corner where trackpad is flush with the case it appears in the photo as there is a gap. That is the nature of the glass.
The only good way in my opinion is good old sliding your finger around edges and feel if there is difference.

Sounds very minor square would show a 1/16th or maybe 1/32nd difference.

Mine is un even and also on the middle top when I press hard trackpad it self goes down(flex) ,Does anybody having this issue?

You guys suck. I have been over every inch of this MacBook and thought I had an absolutely perfect one. Then this post. Mine is recessed on the top right, and flush of the top left. I'll forever notice this from now on, thanks a bunch!

Tim

No every had other reasons to return.

1st: Nick very visible near trackpad
2nd: A lot of imperfections, nicks out of the box, strange touchbar
3rd: This is mine now and here is the best so far :)

Called yesterday Apple Care and they said that regarding touchpad 1mm difference in corners is normal.

Frustrating, but I've noticed similar things with my products too these days. It is like a box of chocolate and makes purchasing anything new so stressful. So these days, I never count on that I actually get a good unit straight away and I prepare myself for multiple tries. :)
I also try to weight the issue with ones I get, so if they are minor, I try to put up with them. Like my MBP with uneven trackpad also had minor nick but luckily it was bottom side and small, so I decided not to see trouble for return as the screen appeared to be quite good actually, much better than I expected.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is "normal" as in a way it is not indication of actual fault other than just simple adjustment. I mean it could be indication of battery swelling too but probably rather unusual with brand new units, I guess. Mine had uneven trackpad out of the box and it has not gotten worse in a one year of use. I also noticed the trackpad actually moves up a bit as the machine and battery heats up, but I think it is more or less normal too, it is just impossible to notice if the trackpad is evenly recessed well below the chassis around it (mine is almost flush in the highest corner, so makes it noticeable easily)

Yes. I think that if I will notice something then I will accept it. I found a scratch on my 3rd unit. I was out of the exchange period but they agreed :)

Just to chime in:
Had 3 MBP 2020 13". The first one had a perfect flush Trackpad, the second one was a bit uneven and the third one is noticeable uneven on the left side and perfectly flush on the right side. But I will keep the third one because otherwise it is not damaged (like the previous ones). I don't think that you should worry to much about this and just enjoy your machines.

Okay, 4th came with 6 imperfections. This was too much. One dent on a back. I begin return procedure. Ordered new one. If tomorrow will come same type of unit I will buy Windows laptop...

I see that every has some nicks, blemishes and uneven trackpads at all, my 5th unit has one blemish on a lid (not big deal) and a little bit uneven trackpad...QUALITY... but system is the best so I will stay with Apple and this unit a little bit more.

That is frustrating but I know what you mean. The last time I remember getting defect free looking unit was in the last generation chassis iPhone 4/5 and my AW3, but all others in the last few years (iPhone, AirPods, iPad and MBP) have had one or more small defects. My MBP also had couple small scratches on display right out of the box, just half inch long hairline scratches that can be seen from the angle, then one nick on the bottom side of the chassis and uneven trackpad.

If I will notice scratches on display then I will exchanged it immediately. My blemish was not blemish, I cleaned it with wipe. So no blemishes and only a little bit uneven touchpad. Definitely stay with this unit :)

I used to do so also but after seeing my iPhones coming with small hairline scratches I thought I don't want to take my changes and possibly end up with multiple exchanges.
Hairline scratches on my MBP are so minor that you need to view them under flashlight or similar and even then view them on specific angle, they are not visible from normal viewing angle. But yeah, I agree it is not acceptable.

Not sure what you mean by blemish but I'm glad to hear you got a good unit in the end. Next time maybe easier to order 5 at the same time. :D
