Jailbreaking with redsn0w requires DFU mode

I'm not sure if redsn0w is built in with hacktivation (it wasn't like 2 years ago when I last used it). If redsn0w doesn't let you jailbreak it, you need to activate the device first

Assuming you did it correct, you should just need to put the gevey sim and it'll activate (I'm not sure how the gevey sim and other related hardware work)

Another alternative for hacktivation is make a custom firmware with sn0wbreeze if you can't activate it with the gevey sim or redsn0w

As a side note, your hosts file is pointing to cydia's server, not apple's server

Yippee.. I can finally see v5.1.1 with the same baseband as 4.10.01 on my iphone settings but there is a twist in the tale ...

The SIM which is otherwise working in my other iPhone (factory unlocked) is getting as "No Service" in the iPhone with Gevey Sim (the one which I just upgraded) :(

Now I wonder if this iOS upgrade has got something to do with it!! It is NOT showing an Invalid SIM but No Service after detecting the SIM. Any solutions please?? OR Is that now I need to again downgrade to my previous version i.e. 4.3??:confused::confused:

HELP PLZ!

Which Gevey you have?

for the Ultra you might need the furious mod from Cydia.

Not sure buy the circuit board of gevey says "Ultra" so I guess it should be the same! :p

I tried locating Furious Mod in the packages but could not. Any tips how and where to locate it?

Good News - Finally, I am able to use my network SIM (with the Gevey SIM) on my iPhone with iOS 5.1.1 and baseband 4.10.01. :D

I am not sure if the Furious Mod repo and it's package really had to anything with it, but probably I was just not completing the process that we need to follow with Gevey Sim (when we turn on iPhone) as I was expecting a single Signal bar that always used to come on iOS 4.3 while when on iOS 5.1.1 it was showing up 'No Service'. So it could just be my bad.  :p

Nevertheless it is finally working and it gives me a lot of confidence to try my luck with iOS 6 next once an untethered jailbreak for the same is available.

I'll surely try and soon post the complete process and the links that helped me.

Cheers :apple:

You mean iOS7 i persume?

As things stand now there will be no JB for 6.1.3

Well yes iOS 6 or iOS 7.. whatever is available and works best. After all it important that there should be no change in the baseband and jailbreak should be untethered. ;)
