Nope, I moved to the US a while ago.
It handles great, best phone I ever had.
I messed around with a friends iphone once and as soon as I put it down I knew I had to get it.:D Very Cool device for sure.

that's awesome, im dying to get one, im still kind of pissed that they didnt release it in canada as well, but i understand why

this is good news, hopefully ill be up and running with mine within the next few weeks

how are you finding the battery life?

I think it will eventually make it to Canada also. But who knows when.
The battery is fine for every day use, sometimes I charge it once every 2 days and other times every night.
If you're online alot, watching movies, streaming youtube, listening to music for hours its going to go down faster than just using it mostly for phone calls and checking emails etc...
I have a car charger so whenever its running low I just plug it in.

thats not too bad, i charge my pearl every 4 days or so, but then again it doesnt offer the same things as an iphone

every 2 days or every night isnt so bad, as long as the battery life doesnt deterioriate badly.

did it come with a dock? like the ipod docks?

Yes, they come with a dock so you can stand charge it.
when I first got it I was playing/browsing on it for hours every day.
Wanted to check every single feature and see if all my websites and email accounts worked so battery wasnt lasting as long.
But for every day use battery is just as good as any other cellphone out there.

haha, ill probably lose sleep for a few days when I get mine

i guess its just a waiting game now...

i sent a message to the guy who posted in this thread who claims to have an iphone working in montreal... he hasnt responded though...

do you know what this turbosim thing is?

Yes, have him give you details on how he got his to work.
I think the turbosim is a chip you gotta purchase seperate that makes everything possible. But Im not really familiar with it.
It shouldnt be that hard, within 10-20 minutes you should be setup.
Good luck with it.

turbosim requires you to cut the simcard and such

turbosim requires you to cut the simcard and such

so obviously that isnt the most ideal procedure for someone like myself

i read that the new unlocking procedure is done through software (no soldering, opening the iphone, cutting the sim, etc...)

so im wondering how its applied? do you hook your iphone up via usb and run some type of program on your computer? has anybody done this with a different phone?

Honestly, I have no idea.

I am also an iPhone-less canadian who has been searching for weeks for ways to get myself a working one in a simple way.

I saw the news on engadget today, it was shocking. The story was fairly brief but it got the point across that it could be done. And the guys that did are saying they have software in the works or waiting in the wings.

So all I know is that only time will let us know what is going on

So you're in the same boat as me. We should either have a race to see who gets their iPhone up and running first, or just sitback and wait it out.

....

what else is their to unlock besides the phones calling features?

explain, i dont really get what you're saying... but i want to get it, haha

well everything works on my iPhone except the calling features itself because when I got mine u cant even access the ipod, video, maps etc... o I got it unlocked and most people only get the first part unlocked (which is the features). but the phone itself doesnt work when ure gonna make a call coz the phone itself is not locked....confusing?..lol.

how did you get the first part unlocked (the features)?

I need to have the features unlocked if Im going to buy one and play around with it before having the calling features unlocked.

I have a question then:

Say I unlock an iPhone to work on Rogers in Canada...Say I get home and want to access the internet on my iPhone off WiFi - if I connect to a wifi network, does that come off of my data plan? Or is it free?

From my understanding, when you are connected to a wireless network the surfing is done for free, just as it would be if you were on a laptop (or other wireless device)

If you are connected via EDGE, then you have to pay for the data that is received and transmitted.

+1

best bet is delete the rogers wap stuff off the phone (if possible) so you don't make the mistake of connecting to edge, when you want wifi.

That is correct.

hey Canuck4 and jesteraver... I have a question

one of the posters said you need to unlock the features (ipod, safari, etc) and that unlocking the sim card is a different task

does that mean when i buy my iphone I wont be able to use it out of the box? I'll have to hack it just to use the itunes, safari (browsing on wifi), etc.?

Theres a bunch of different hacks and methods.
One is to unlock/activate the phone and just use it for wifi and ipod features.
And the other way is thru the turbosim where you can completelly unlock and use all the phone features, besides the visual voicemail.
Yes, once you buy the phone its locked and it wont let you do anything unless you activate it thru itunes and sign up for a 2 year plan with AT&T.
Either way you'll have to hack it to get it work, it wont let you do anything straight out of the box.

Oooh alright, this somewhat changes my perspective on things.

Any idea of how to unlock/activate its wifi/ipod features?

So you're saying I could buy one tomorrow and hack it to just use wifi and ipod features? Is that hard to do? Or just a freeware download? Can I use calendar and contacts still?

Thanks!!!

best bet ask the guy who used the turbosim.

seeing you use turbosim to pretty much get thru and use the wifi - phone, thing is i am not sure if you can use the ipod part of it, i don't see a problem opening up the box and plugging ur iphone to your computer and adding music to it, i could be wrong though
