Apparently you haven’t done research tons of people with iPhones using and prefer galaxy pods ease of use as to opening them and instantly connecting vs going to Bluetooth and selecting all of 15 sec. far as capabilities it’s not even close galaxy pods are hands down better
What's with going to Bluetooth and selecting something in relation to AirPods?

I don't see a mention of Bluetooth 5.0 on Apple's website. Do they support it?
I think it is safe to say "yes". First, because of the improvements, like talk time, faster connection and reduced latency. And secondly, because several months ago the new model of AirPods with Bluetooth 5 was registered in the Eurasian Database (I believe). I remember it was reported by MacRumours as well, but I cannot find it now for some reason.

Thanks bud. I figured it out after reading a few articles online.

The hands-free "Hey Siri" feature would come in handy & may let you free up one of the buds' tap gestures for something else.

BT5 also 'future-proofs' this version so they'll see all the benefits of it as firmware's are upgraded.

I'm holding out for Airpods 3 though, but it looks like they'll be delayed further after today's announcement.

Siri doesn’t like me anyways so nahhh

Trouble in paradise? :D

Decisions... Got Airpods 2 on order for my wife. My Airpods are still working ok, will try to resist getting ones for myself until there is a discount

I have 1st gen AirPods. Pre ordered the 2nd gen this morning. I don't care much for Hey Siri. It's the battery life. Had mine since 4/2017 and now they only last maybe two hours on a charge. I was holding out for this revision. Plus the improved microphones make it seem worth it.

Battery life though.

I think if you have the 1st gen its a little bit of a hard sell, unless Hey Siri or the extra battery life is enough to make the sell.

I had the 1st gen, but lost them about a month ago, so was considering buying another one but decided to wait and see if a second gen was released, thankfully the wait hasn't been that long.

To me the biggest reason to upgrade is the improved chip that makes connections when on a call quicker. That’s what frustrates me the most, the delay in connecting to a call when placing one or two in your ear or switching between devices.

I really cant believe they have two models one without wireless charging one with, after all this delay and meh features and the upcharge

As mentioned, if your original AirPods are trashed sure otherwise I’d hold off personally

The battery life then. Most likely people with a degraded battery will update because it’s very expensive to replace the AirPods battery or the case battery if it’s out of warranty. Good thing I have a 2 year warranty on everything I buy in Europe.

Anyone with 1st gen planning to upgrade to 2nd gen? It seems like the only 'meaningful' change is the Hey Siri, which for me personally not sure if it's worth it. Would love to hear some thoughts from others and why are you upgrading.
[doublepost=1553209920][/doublepost]One thing that I like is the new Qi charging case, but I suggest you save your bucks and just buy the case. As far as the hyped “Hey Siri” being a feature of the new chip, I have a set of gen one AirPods and that feature works just fine on mine with the old chip.

both of mine were so so on the battery but the volume had gotten so low sometimes I could not hear some podcasts. so I just replaced them a couple months ago. but all I see is the faster connection would do much. I would not pay extra to charge them wirelessly. I don't even have a horizontal wireless charger.

My right Airpod cuts off after just a few minutes even though it says the battery is charged. My left Airpod works fine for the most part but battery only lasts about an hour, probably less. Needless to say, I will be getting the new ones.

I just bought gen 1's on Monday, im thinking about keeping them and getting the gen 2's but I am not sure.
Why wouldnt you return the gen 1 and get the new ones instead?

No!!! Get the galaxy buds trust me

The galaxy would not have the range of the AirPods connected to an iPhone. But I wouldn't buy Galaxy anyway.

Ive ordered the Gen 2 AirPods because might as well - will be good to get 4-5 hours battery life again.

Also tempted to change the batteries on the old one as getting only 2 hours or so battery... they are really still good tech.

I put my Gen 1's through the wash and the microphone just isn't the same :/

I was hoping it'd sort itself.. but no.

I have 2 iPhones and having a pair for my other iPhone would be convenient that I wouldn't have to unpair and repair.

Can't you return them?

Sure but I could I guess.

Amen I took the plunge as my original AirPods last almost 1.6 hours before needing to charge and I got them late 2016 so they have worked out well. Snagged the smidge more expensive wireless charging case option and I’ll give my old school AirPods to my folks. I was also told at the Apple store longer range- twice the talk time and faster charging while in the case FYI
