I orderd a Mac Mini and the 2TB NVME/SSD directly via Amazon from a Seller called Siensnet.

I´ll see how it will work out, the description was good so i hope the Best.

"SIENSNET hard disks are made by major manufacturers with surface mount technology, using brand new particles for better quality, stability and durability."

I could also finance via Amazon/Barclay here in Germany and guess it will be the SanDisk version (Image Text of SpeedTest suggest this but was not mentioned in the Ad Text).

for 250€ it was a bargain and has a 1 Year Warranty as well.

Images are from Amazon - Siensnet:

The seller is based in China and therefore as a marketplace seller your warranty is with the seller, not with Amazon. Let us know how it turns out.

Yes... not new ? The same as AliExpress so I tried it, also because the description leads to the assumption that the NVME was not soldered at home...

AliExpress has a slightly better dispute centre process. Amazon just leaves it with the seller. If the seller were on both, I would have gone via AliExpress. Good luck, anyway.

So...

the internal 2TB SSD/NVME for the Mac Mini M4 that I ordered via Amazon from Siensnet makes an excellent impression.

Ultra fast shipping, ordered on Saturday and delivered the following Friday from China to Germany Cologne.

Looks perfectly processed and thanks to the excellent toolset and the flawless immediate function, I had the installation and migration from the previous external 4TB Acasis TBU405Air done in just under an hour (approx. 750GB migration, now I can pack more on it :).

Time will tell how reliable it is but it just works and I had 0 problems.
And it is fast, i noticed the change immediately and this is now also faster than the MBA M2.
I do not care about the BlackMagic Test but i´ll do it later because there are still mds processes running...

This is 30% CPU Running the first installment routine Scans on the SSD:

Attached are a few photos of the packaging etc.
Also the extra thin metal tool was really necessary and the set is really well thought out in every detail.

Thanks Siensnet, good job so far.

That was shipped quickly. Since Siensnet is based in China, I expect this to take a couple of weeks to arrive. They must have some in a warehouse in Europe.

I did my m4 mini upgrade from 512 to 2TB on Monday. Used the JCID version purchased on aliexpress.

Everything went flawless, and I now have writes of 4500, and reads of 3000 MB/s.

Hardware install took about 10 minutes; FW, software, and restore from backup took about 30-40 minutes.

I have to join the discussion.

Since last April I have been putting 2TB SSDs from m4-SSD chinese site into M4 minis, the non pro ones. They also have drives for the pro version. I did 5 times the 2TB dives and once the 1TB drive in a base M4 configuration.

In couple of days I will be fitting another 1 TB drive into a friend's M4 base. My last 2TB card is also already reserved by another client of mine.

All i can confirm is that I didn't have a single issue, so far, with any of the drives or the minis after the upgrade.
All are working flawlessly, SO FAR !

I didn’t test iboff or ebay sellers. or ally Express. I order my drives from M4-SSD.com directly.

I have seen on the iBoff webpage that some of their 512GB drives use 2nd hand nands, while bigger ones use brand new ones. This is off putting in my opinion.
I hear often that people are afraid of storage updates, so I try to convince them otherwise.

Going back to m4-SSD.com case.

My Youtube video from the first mini upgrade is featured on their 2nd webside:

Mine is the Hime Hardware one.

M4-SSD told me that they check every single drive before shipping.
So far I have no reason NOT to belive their words.

3 of those minis I upgraded were brand new ones I bought straight from Apple's Polish reseller and performed the swap right away. The config of 24 GB ram and 2TB SSD is the sweet spot IMO.

Take care.

I wish my local computer repair store was doing this , I would take my there to have it done
Why not just ask them if they could install it?

But you need a 2nd mac to perform the firmware load/upgrade. Some people say that you can use an intel mac to do it. Never tested it.

I always use m3 or m4 mbp with usb c cable. For update Finder is enough.

People have recorded success with hackintoshes. The main thing is using a recent enough release of macOS: typically post-Catalina.
