They did and Sprint and another carrier didn’t.I think AT&T and TMobile had SIM cards20 years ago.

i think you fail to understand my relationship with my phone. Your statement is like me saying to you “you could just marry the spouse your company provides you, you don’t really need to pick the one you want”Or you could just use the phone your company provides. You really don't need a new iPhone every year.
Only US models have the eSIM limitation others like the A2890/A2894 don’t
Is this "switch to eSIM" only available in ios 16? My iphone 12 on 15.6.1 does not show this option even though I am even using the eSIM for one of my numbers. If you are on any of the following carriers:
AT&T
C Spire
T-Mobile USA
US Cellular
Verizon Wireless
You do not need to call if you are already using an eSIM. iPhone 14 quick setup process will auto handle it for you.
If you are on one of the carriers I listed but on a physical SIM, go to Settings > Cellular > Select the SIM card and you should find an option to switch to eSIM. Do it now.
If you are on any of the following carriers:
Boost Mobile
Cellcom
Credo Mobile
FirstNet
H2O Wireless
Spectrum Mobile
Straight Talk
Strata
Tracfone
Xfinity Mobile
You may need to call or visit a branch for them to add your iPhone to their system then your iPhone will see the eSIM using auto discovery.

MaybeHmm. I am not sure. I am running iOS 16 beta so maybe that’s why?
Mine says “no SIM”. So what do I do? I had a big problem last year when I activated an iPhone 13. I had no service on either phone and had to go to AT&T to fix.If you are on any of the following carriers:

Well at least Canadian models does show that it has a sim tray.Anyone know if the Canada models come with SIM?
I will purchase an unlocked iPhone 14 PM. So what will I have to do now? Physically go to AT&T?!
Esim is amazingly simple. Just did it on a 12 pro… no need to go into the store anymore. Just provide the phone imei over the phone to the carrier rep, and they send it to you digitally. Plus we got +70~ mah to the battery as a result
Since they already make phones with physical SIM support for rest of the world, it becomes just a matter of discontinuing production of the US-only version.I wish. But they always double down and keep changes like this.

I am planning to buy iphone 14 PM and port two iphone 7 from Metro to AT&T next week
Does it matter if I preorder and not select a carrier, selecting "Connect to any carrier later" instead, even though I will port from Metro to AT&T next week? will I have any issues with unlocking and activating iphone 14 Pro on AT&T?
This Friday (before receiving iphone 14) I will submit an AT&T order for 3 lines(port two iphone 7 plus from Metro and add this new iphone 14 Pro and will configure AT&T order with 3 SIM cards for 3 lines. I would use only 2 SIM since iphone 14 Pro does not use SIM. So that I have the SIM cards ready by Next Friday.
I haven't done this porting and buying iphone for many years. Does the above sound right?
Question, so my wife and I have a Verizon account with just us and our 2 kids. We don’t want to add any additional lines for my sister because we are grandfathered in to a certain plan. So I was going to open a line for my sister in my name, purchase the 14 pro max on the new account and keep that and give her my 13 pro max, how would that work for me with the ESim ,
So the new line will go to my sister, i will take the 14 pro max and she will get my 13 pro max, just making sure there will be no restrictions since its a new line and account. i know it would be easier with a physical sim, just seeing if esim would change thatWill you be using the new account for yourself, or will you be giving it to your sister and you’ll be using the same line you had?
If same line then you need to call Verizon and check if they can switch your line to an eSIM without changing your grandfathered plan. Technically speaking there shouldn’t be anything stopping them from doing it. Sadly in reality they could say no because carriers are ass holes.
Basically go to your mobile carrier. Ask to transfer to apply eSim enter EID make sure you have WiFi and done. Certainly not as easy as swapping SIM I would agree. But I like the added security.
I just converted my SIM to eSIM after the presentation. Took 5 minutes. All this is done online.
I didn’t. I went online. It says done online. No you don’t have to do any of this. You can do it all at home and don’t even need to call your carrier. I’ve done it many times before.
