Why are so many folks negative about eSIMs? What are the downsides? Or why are physical SIM cards superior?
I prefer eSIM, but it’s a pain to get it with AT&T, particularly if on is one the iPhone upgrade program (IUP).

If one has AT&T and upgrades through IUP, the new phone will come with a new physical sim, and one has to activate the new phone with the physical sim in the phone. If you take the physical sim out and attempt to activate the phone, it wouldn’t work.

To switch to an eSIM, I was advised by AT&T to go to a store. The store will charge $5 each time, and not all stores carry eSIM QR code cards.

Comparing to Verizon which will provide a eSIM QR activation code via email for free, AT&T surely knows how to make it hard and charge a fee on top of it.

In the past, I've called UPS, giving them my phone numebr, name and address, and they provide me the full tracking number. This time, they can’t even "find my package." Anyone tried to call and had luck?

I didn’t have any problems with taking the physical sim out and activating through eSIM when I upgraded from the 11PM to the 12PM. I am on the IUP also. Hopefully I won’t have any problems with the 13PM.

So, as far as Apple Trade-In’s go, do they want anything other than the phone? Like the charger, etc?

It’s been awhile since I’ve traded in anything with Apple.
Last year I simply brought in my XS Max phone, total factory reset, wiped out - removed my Sim card. Nothing else, no box, charger, cord.
That's all that was needed. :)

Anyone here order from AT&T or anywhere else that isn't Apple? I know the thread says Apple, but I couldn't find a thread for the US that fits what I ordered any better than this.

I ordered the iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB Gold on 9/17 at 2:20pm

Status says expected to ship 9/23 with Delivery by 9/24.

I tried to go to that section and I guess because the UPS CC is about 30 minutes away from me, it won’t show up in the list of available locations…only ones that are within about 15–20 minutes will. I can’t seem to find a way to change my address that it is using to create the list. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
I noticed the same thing. It won't allow me to have it held at the UPS CC center either. It's not even showing on their map, but it'll show the CVS chemist next door to it lol . I'm going to let it slide and be patient for a late Friday delivery.

Are you on AT&T? Can you provide more details about how you did it? Did you already have an eSIM on your 11?

Yes, sorry about that. I am with ATT and I already had eSIM on my 11. I did have to pick up a QR code from ATT w/the 11, but when I got the 12 and before turning on, I removed the physical SIM and went through the process of setting up. If I’m remembering correctly, during set-up, it asked it I was setting up via eSIM—said yes and it was pretty painless.

I tried changing in the UPS app (signed in for MyChoice) and put in the actual address of my Customer Center to search for a new location - and it still doesn’t come up - it’s like the CC doesn’t exist anymore.
