I ordered a 128 to replace my 256. I was only using 70 out of 256.

I always restore from encrypted backup on Mac. A lot of personal data and settings will be restored directly from that local backup, but the phone will still download the app files themselves from the cloud. Also, if you have iCloud photos on, all of your photos will download from the cloud, not from your local backup. So it will still take some time (especially at 2Mb/s!).

I always restore from encrypted backup on Mac also. It’s the best way since it restores all settings and passwords. I was forced to do an iCloud restore on the iPhone X launch. I was moving and had no internet access yet. Did the iCloud restore in the Apple store and then had to renter all passwords for all apps. Kind of a pain.

Team UPS CC Hold:

I just received a response from UPS on having my package held for pick up at my local Customer Center (CC).

Looks like we need to hold tight until our babies are Stateside.

“Looking over the tracking number, this package still has not reached the US. Once package arrives at the delivery center you may submit the request. Please monitor on ups.com.“

And by “delivery center“ I think they mean Kentucky and not Alaska.

Thanks. I was trying to remember when I could change to hold at UPS CC. UPS delivers about 6pm to my house and has not delivered until next day if it gets too late….. many times. Not taking any chances.

No, I don't I don't use a lot of space, and I regularly backup and the only thing that made me think of going to 256 is the new video mode but I don't think I need that.

What is your favorite way to move from an old iPhone to a new one? I am not 100% sure of all the options. I usually just do the simple path but that leave me downloading all the apps and much of the iCloud data for the next day or more. My network connection is about 2Mbps.

I’m wondering if it would be quicker to do a last minute backup to my Mac (encrypted) and restore from it. Comments?

Phoneto-phone transfer is the quickest and my favorite. Creates a network between the two phones to transfer data

I emailed them yesterday so I am hoping for a similar response

I'm always tempted to do this, the UPS hub is just 3 miles away, so having this in my hands at 7-8am would be awesome. But I always fear this change will mess everything up. I TRIED to do in-store pickup during pre-order...for some reason that wasn't coming up as an option.

Ah well..Maybe UPS will deliver it home at 11am...maybe 1pm...3pm?
My 8+ was finally delivered around 7:45pm...recall getting antsy while trying to watch Wheel of Fortune (ugh)

I can wait....but I'm not a patient person when it comes to deliveries, I admit..LOL
- Getting that GPS map on Amazon...*8, 7, 6 stops away....then I head to the window and wait.
