I had to re-connect bluetooth devices, now my mouse is FINE!

The MP's built-in bluetooth reception is notoriously bad. However, I've heard that you cannot wake the MP from sleep using a mouse or keyboard connected to the aftermarket bluetooth.

I am using a Logitech mouse and a Logitech K750 keyboard, using their own
USB wireless system.
Works perfectly and doesn't interfere with an Apple bluetooth "Track pad"
or whatever its called ( like the one in a macbook pro )

I have never used the Apple bluetooth mouse/keyboard.

I am only a couple of feet from the Mac pro, it's directly under the desk.

I've got the extended wired apple keyboard but cannot abide the apple Magic Mouse for precision mousing, I regularly want to kill the one I use on the MBP when it changes drop down selection boxes in apps with the tiniest little mis-flick. So for the Mac Pro I use the logitech anywhere mx which is utterly superb, right or left handed. I so, so wish they made a bluetooth version so I could banish that apple rodent!

You may have to edit this page in a while, the time for the 3,1 CPU AS-5 re-paste is soon approaching as CPU core 1 is hitting 75C. At the same time I'm going to perform my bluetooth shielding shenanigans with slivers of mu-metal araldited over the connecting pins to the BT card.

You know what I don't get? Everybody has all these BT/USB3 problems, yet no matter how hard I bang on the USB3 transfers, I have NEVER had the associated problems.

Could it be possible that the Mid 2012 (assembled Feb 2013) has some minor change that helps to alleviate the problem?

A couple of times I was working on a Late 2013 iMac and when I plugged in a SanDisk flash key into the back USB ports at the same time as one of those Logitech RF dongles, the mouse the dongle was connected to went berserk as if the flash key were putting out hard radiation.

As an experiment, I put both into an old iMac mid-2007 Aluminum and there was no issue. Something is definitely messed up, but not sure who to blame..

Received Inateck KT4004 card, and is working great. I was using another previously recommended 3.0 card (requiring additional power), and it rarely worked, and never with my 3.0 hub. This card works fine with everything I have tried with it.

I have also had minor USB3 interference problems with my 2012 MacBook air when using the Magic Mouse that came with my Mac Pro. I think you got LUCKY:eek:

I'm using the Orico 4 port / 1 charging BOKCore hub with my Inateck and it even recognizes UASP devices and uses them at the full UASP speed.

NewerTech MAXPower USB/eSATA 2x2 Host Adapter

Anybody with experience with the NewerTech Maxpower USB/eSATA 2x2 card? Sells at OWC for $127.99.
(they also seem to sell an older model for the same price).

This would suit me fine since I only have 1 slot to spare and would like to have both USB3 and eSATA.

Seems very close to the CalDigit FASTA-6GU3 Pro … which OWC sells for $169.

In the market to add usb 3.0 to replace the 2.0 in my 5,1 MP 2010.

Was all set to pickup the Inateck 4 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0, then saw that Hi Point has a RAID option card. Price is obviously more.

What's everyones thoughts on a plug/play card vs a card that requires drivers, has proprietary raid setup?

I got confused with that raid option thinking that Lacie drives had a hardware raid setup inside their drives, so I thought I could use the Inateck usb 3 card for that and not bother with the Hi Point card.

I was also thinking of adding a eSata card as well so in the event the Inateck usb 3.0 card doesn't do raid, I can use the eSata card instead.

I have both the RocketU and the Inateck card installed in my machine. They both to a great job, but each is designed for a different purpose. The RocketU won't work with anything other than storage devices (Drives). The Inateck works with everything and is damed fast.

If however you want to run a configurable RAID USB setup, then RocketU is your baby. You must install drivers and manage your RAID configuration through a Web/HTML interface. It works great, but if you want a top notch USB 3.0 (standard) PNP driverless card (meaning that OSX has built-in drivers already) go with the Inateck.

If money is no object, you might want to give the Caldigit Pro card a look too.

My personal recommendation for a Fast PNP USB 3.0 (no frills) card is hands down the OSX supported Inateck.

For configurable RAID with USB 3.0 interface, the RocketU is my choice.

If you just want a 2 drive RAID0 setup. Seagate makes a 4TB USB 3.0 portable drive that has 2x 2TB drives inside the case configured as RAID0 and it too is BLAZING fast for a portable spinner. You could use the inexpensive Inateck card with that drive and accomplish a RAID0 goal with rock solid USB 3.0 results.

Well that set me straight, although it's not what I wanted to hear ;) I used to have a HP EX470 and after that took a digger I've been searching for something with raid capabilities again. Again, managing that was also through a web interface as well. I had thought that a Lacie Big5 or equivalant would have mirroring for redundancy but with USB 3.0 for the MP I need a card that can handle Raid. I've only got a few PCI slots to work with ;)

CalDigit's card doesn't seem to do raid but allows equal throughput on both ports which is attractive. Just need to pull the trigger on one and more forward.

Sorry if it has been asked before, but TLDR.

My new card should be here this week (Inateck) and its going in my 2009 Mac Pro. Now, does it have to into the 16x for full speed USB 3.0, or will the 4x slot provide enough bandwith for the full 5Gbps to all 4 ports?

^^^^The quoted information below is from the Inateck Web Site:

Filtering Unit with Solid Capacitors offer a Reliable and Secure Connectivity , Fit in any PCI-Express x1 , x2 , x4 , x8 or x16 Socket , Compliant with PCI Express Base Specification 2.0.

The PCIe slots on the 2009 (4,1) Mac Pro are all PCIe 2.0 compliant. The top two slots are X4 Lanes the bottom 2 are 16 Lanes.

So Yes, any of the four slots will be just fine for full performance.

Sorry you didn't have time to do your own research.

Seems the Highpoint RocketU card does not support hubs, I am looking for a 4 port USB 3 card that will support hubs and does not require internal power to connect to it, seems a hard thing to find.

Thanks, problem is I can't get the Inatek card here in Canada and its the only card that will support USB hubs and doesn't require supplemental power, so I am out of luck.
