Hi guys

I recently got what I thought was a Inateck KTU3FR-4PA, it was the link provided by Inateck on their website, I checked the amazon reviews. People had said this card works on a mac.

I later find out this amazon ha obviously send me the Inateck KTU3FR-4P.

I plugged this card in and it's not working on my mac. Do i have the wrong card?

I have not tie using the sata power cable, as the card actually came with the wrong cable and will have to buy another one to test this.

Any ideas ?

Yes, sounds like you got the wrong card. Amazon USA hasn't been able to keep it in stock for very long. It seems to appear and disappear frequently. You have to watch closely or that will happen. It's supposed to smooth out by the end of the month.

Had some Windows 7x64 driver issues with the KT4004 Inateck but I didn't change them from the powered card. Uninstalled them all and none of the setup install apps worked, all stopped with the file 'FLxHCIm.exe' is not marked for installation. Eventually the newest 3.5.106.0 WHQL drivers off the inateck website installed manually via Device Manager and selecting the folder and sub-folders of the extracted drivers to find them for 3 devices. 1 controller, 1 Root Hub and 4 Hub devices and 6 bing bongs later - working fine.

OSX on the other hand has been faultless :D

Greetings all,

New to the forums but this thread has been extremely helpful in my journey for USB 3.0 on my Mac Pro so I thought I'd pitch in with a little heads up...

I was speaking with Inateck via their Twitter and they informed me that new stock of the KT4004 is set to hit Amazon "within the next week".

I mentioned to them that I would have to keep my eye on it since they seem to sell out so quickly and their response was:

"No worries. We have 400 pcs ready to be stocked this time."

So maybe enough to go around this time? Just make sure to leave one for me! :)

The card you got does work with Mac, but it requires SATA power. I would return it and wait for the correct model to be in stock.

If you absolutely need to use it now, then yes, you'll have to run power to it.

YAY!! I'll be sure to have enough to order one.

Question, are their ordered fulfilled by Amazon? If so, I need to come up with another $10+ for free shipping.

Inateck KT4004 4-Port USB 3.0 PCI-E Express Card For MAC Pro

ActionableMango,

Could you update post #1 to reflect the new model number? I already updated my post so as to avoid confusion to new readers.

error?

The link by jmfangio goes back to the original 'needs power' card for me.

This looks like the correct link:

http://www.amazon.com/Release-Optimized-Inateck-Expansion-Version/dp/B00I027GPC/

The description fits too:

Amazon said:
[New Release, 4 Ports Optimized for Mac Pro] Inateck 4 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0 Expansion Card for Mac Pro (Early 2008 to 2012 Late Version) - Interface USB 3.0 4-Port Express Card Desktop for Windows XP/7/8/ Mac OS 10.8.2 or Above - No Additional Power Connection Needed

Already ordered one, now I can use the molex cable for the GTX 660 I plan on getting later.

Oh dear, $25.99? Well, beats paying big bucks for a Caldigit..

Edit: jmfangio's link works, but you must click the '4 ports for Mac Pro' option. I like my direct link better, so whatever.

USB Hub

Was wondering if anyone that has the inateck card has a USB 3 hub attached to it, and if so how is it performing?

If all looks good I hope to get one of these cards as well!

I have the KT4004 card with the Inateck 4 port plus usb charge port powered hub, and windows 7 driver glitch aside which I have previously posted about it's working great. No problems whatsoever in Mavericks. The hub I find very useful with the charge port juicing my iPad at high speed.

The new Caldigit FASTA-6GU3 supports UASP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_Attached_SCSI), which is much faster than normal USB 3.0.

Updated first post with this, thanks.

Hope this helps.

It does, thanks. I've updated the Caldigit information.

I will consider adding the Sonnet Tango in the next update when I have more time, but I'm confused about the models and which you are talking about. There also appears to be a power port on the one I looked at, so I'm wondering about that.

Honestly, I getting a little tired of maintaining this. My original post was to get a no-additional-software solution, which we've had for a while now. There were initially some caveats, but with the Inateck I feel they are all gone now. So I'm pretty much done and will no doubt lurk on my own thread, but the first post isn't going to be maintained much going forward, if at all.

Well, maybe I'll gain interest again when USB 3.1 or 4.0 comes out. :)

I have the same one as Gav Mack, Inateck 4 port & Charger port :D

Works a treat, no loss of throughput and it seems happy with everything I
plug into it.

Yes , there is a power connector, no explanation about this in the documentation. It works without power. There is another internal port "USB Dual Port Connector (Internal" labelled on the box.No further info given - maybe the power is for this port??

I am using my Inateck card with this powered hub:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D7P6176/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

See My post #603, on page 25 of this thread where I complain of interference issues between USB3 and my Bluetooth mouse. The hub has not eliminated those issues completely, but has reduced them to a great extent. My mouse and my Inateck card along with the hub are now coexisting comfortably.

See My post #603, on page 25 of this thread where I complain of interference issues between USB3 and my Bluetooth mouse. .

I have had the mouse "stuttering" and/or "jerking" for a long time, even before USB3 & hubs.
The hub I am using is a Orico 10 port USB3 Hub (ORICO H10C1-U3 10Ports SuperSpeed USB3.0 HUB With 5V/2.1A USB Power Charger 121263651293).
Yesterday I replaced my Caldigit FASTA-6GU3 Pro & Sonnet Tango 3.0 PCIe with the Inateck KTU3FR-4PA.
No difference to the mouse problems.
Today I plugged a "IOGear USB 2.1 Bluetooth Micro Adapter GBU421" into my hub & manually selected the GBU421 with Apples "Bluetooth Explorer", from the Developers "Hardware IO tools".
I had to re-connect bluetooth devices, now my mouse is FINE!
No need to disconnect the Apple Bluetooth controller, & settings stay after a re-boot (cold).
Fingers crossed. 
