The "CalDigit FASTA-6GU3 Pro" was my best choise! No problems, reliable USB 3.0 speeds, fast eSATA clones and boots to/from external HHD enclosure (CCC), only slower cold/restart boottimes of my MP 5.1 (2012) ~45 secs.... Who cares? ;-)

Just got one my self.
It’s actually cheaper to order from AmazonUS and have it sent over to the UK than buy here.
(£130 vs £64!!!).

Arrived today, a few days earlier than expected, (with no unexpected customs charges - yet).
So, performance.

4.66GB file From the Mac to an external drive over USB2 > 2:19
4.66GB file From the external drive to the Mac over USB2 > 2:00
4.66GB file From the Mac to an external drive over USB3 > 0:56
4.66GB file From the external drive to the Mac over USB3 > 1:59

I did notice it seems to good at burst at the mo, (on my Mac at least), the first GB is blazing and it gets slower the longer the transfer.

Congrats! Do you mind sharing your AJA SYSTEMS disk benches?

Yes, it's the most compatible and convenient USB 3.0/eSATA-card I know.

Tried before Sonnet Tempo SSD and Velocity Solo X2, both had issues, especially with Windows booting and Option booting.

Finally I keep only the CalDigit FASTA-6GU3 Pro. Apart from my Apple SSUBX SSD with Sintech adapter.

What are your cold boot times with this, and what slot do you have it in?

From pushing the button to start chime ~ 20 seconds
From start chime to desktop ~ 18 seconds

The trick is to never set my Windows 7 SSD (on standard MP SATA port 1) as startup volume. If i'd do that the boot time is significantly slower than 18 seconds in OS X after again, and I have to do PRAM reset to solve this. Therefore, if I want to boot Windows, I always use option boot. This does not apply to OS X volumes, which I can all set as startup volume in system preferences.

I have the SSUBX blade in slot 2 with full 5.0 GT/s link speed. But i have to say that i've got another model than your's, it's a MZ-KPV1T00/0A2 aka SM953. In system info it's listed as 'Apple SSD SM1024G'.

@Synchro3

Thanks for the reply. The one I have (withe the R ins the serial) is really fast, but I REALLY hate the boot delay. I may sell mine and replace it with one of the other models if I can't get used to it.

When you get time to test it let me know. Also if you don't mind, would you test the thing to make sure full sleep mode (pulsating power light) works before/after the kext is installed. If it does, I'll probably get one of these also (to replace the Inateck! I run 2 USB cards).

I cannot get the KEXT to load. The Sonnet installer completed successfully and I got the big green check mark. But in checking the extensions in System Information I see that the KEXT has not actually loaded, even after a reboot.

I tried to manually load the KEXT at the command line, but I cannot find the file--it's not in the Extensions folder. Also Finder cannot find the KEXT anywhere.

Has anyone else successfully loaded this extension?

Not really sure how to proceed except to contact Sonnet.

KT4004 and Win7-64 with VMWare Fusion

Anyone here using the KT4004 with VMWare Fusion running Win7-64? I can't seem to install the driver for the device...

I'd contact Sonnet. It may have something to do with some of the recent security updates.

Sonnet got back to me. The KEXT does not enable faster charging--the card always charges at its fastest rate. All the KEXT does is prevent OS X from erroneously saying that the device isn't charging when in fact the device is charging.

I don't actually get that message anyway, so the KEXT is useless in my case. I will not bother to further troubleshoot its installation.

So to answer your question about sleep mode, yes the MP will go to sleep with the card installed and connected to devices. (Full sleep mode with the flashing light). Then it wakes up as expected, and I get the Notification Center warning about ejecting media. Everything seems to work fine.

I cannot do an after-KEXT sleep test, but that seems pointless now.

The eSATA boot option was a prio for me too! The bootable CCC backup/clone saved my bacon (user errors mainly) many times!

Cheers

before this, i had (still have) a very cheap pci Esata card. Barely 20 bucks. And bootable. But i still miss my USB 3.0 pci card. And no PCi slots available. One por the graphic card, and two for the Samsung XP94`sin raid 0. This is gonna be perfect!

Thanks again!
