I am thinking along these lines, either the Sonnet Allegro or the Rocket U,will they work with the LaCie drives though?
Has anybody had experience with LaCie drives with the above cards?

I have reinstalled the latest driver which is the same as previously installed. LaCie support for their card is very sketchy.

Yes it looks like the last OS they officially supported for their drivers is ML 10.8.

I believe your LaCie uses the NEC chipset, and that the open source drivers linked in the first post support NEC chipset cards. You might give that a try. This is a blind try though--I have never used the driver myself and don't know what it will do. I have only read that others have used it in order to get their cards working on otherwise unsupported versions of OS X (both older and newer). It's free, so I do believe it's worth a try, but don't blame me if anything goes wrong! And always have backups.

It is worth a try, the penalty of running an old Mac Pro{2008)!
I believe LaCie belongs to Seagate now anyway.

And regardless, LaCie themselves moved away from those accessories and peripherals like USB/Firewire cards, bags, cables, speakers etc long before.

Asmedia USB 3.1 cards are no go in El Capitan final.

Completely fine in Windows 10.

Same here, Asus card stopped working. :-/

But I changed back to my older Inatek with FL 1100 chip. The system started with kernel-panic !

Whats going on here , back to Yosemite and wait for a stable solution (without kext copy etc) ?

I'm using the 4-Port Inatek for my TM backup disk and it's still working fine in El Cap.

I'm using an Inatek card with FL1100 with zero problems in El Capitan.

My Sonnet Allegro card has had zero problems with El Capitan. It is the slightly older Allegro that has 1 USB 3.0 controller serving 4 ports instead of the newer Allegro Pro that has 1 controller per port. Running in a 4,1->5,1.

I have been using a GMYLE express USB 3.0 card successfully on Yosemite with a late 2009 Macbook Pro but it does not appear to work with El Capitan. Anyone had any luck with this card.

Looks like that card requires custom drivers. Try contacting the manufacturer for El Capitan compatible drivers.

You do realize this thread was created for Classic Mac Pro owners with various PCIe USB 3.0 Cards right? Not sure why you would hankentosh a genuine Apple Laptop, but it's a world apart from a Cheese Greater Mac Pro, and should probably be speculated in a different fourm thread.

NewerTech USB 3.0 card bought 3 months ago works without a problem on El Capitan, no drivers needed either

Is it 4004 model ?
I am currently using an Inatech that does not need external power. However, I also used a 2 port Orico card that had a power plug which I never plugged in without any problems.

Orico 2 Port card here with Fl 1009. That's why I had kernel panic. By mistaken I thought it's a FL1100, sorry.
Well Apple dropped FL1009 support by checking PCI-vendor ID's in AppleUSBXHCIPCI.kext
I modified to FL1009 and now my card is working. But I ordered the KT 4004 4 port FL1100 to be most compatible.

After checking the OWC compatibility page for El Capitan, it looks like I'll be waiting for NewerTech to produce a new driver for my MAXPower USB/eSATA 2x2 Host Adapter. (if I'm reading it right)
In hindsight I should've bought the similiar driverless card they sell.

Although I can live with FW 800 for my external drives for a while if need be, the truth is I haven't really switched over to El Capitan yet. Just playing around with a clean install of it on a spare spinner HD so far. Maybe I can just wait for NewerTech before switching entirely.
