It was £32.99 with free delivery.

It was? So now it is not? Maybe this is out of stock? Or can you check the link, is it still showing as buying option for you? I guess with delivery I might land at the same price! I will check with my contacts in UK if they can buy and send it to me :)

I just checked, and it is still available for £32.99 including delivery.

Amazon UK will have stock on Monday. Startech version of the cable. Prices will stay high until enough quantity is available.

Thanks for the update! I will keep looking, also sent an e-mail to a local vendor to check with them if they are planning to get alternatives soon =)

I have that cable, and it works perfectly on a 4K Samsung monitor.
This is actually affordable for me too, but the delivery time within that $1 is about 30 days to my country. I hope I finds something else within 2 weeks. I have seen options here are available but of course still expensive.

I actually bought two cables (at AliExpress and DX) to test them both. They're the same. Maybe DealExtreme can deliver more quickly in your country?

To be honest, I find that cable a bit... ugly :) It's very well made but I'm picky about my cables :) However it's simply just very good quality for its price. Where I live (Netherlands), even online shops will charge double that DX price without batting an eyelid.

There is actually an EU site for DX: http://eud.dx.com/product/usb-3-1-t...-connection-cable-light-golden-1-8m-844389441

And delivery time say 7-9 days, which is good. But checked that cable again and your comment it is very very ugly :) I will try to find a black or white in meanwhile.

Good to see someone from my almost "second" home :)

Edit:

Checked with local vendor, they are getting the StarTech.com 1m DP > USB-C next week for €32 :) That is fine by me.

@cerberusss were you able to use ports on the monitor with the cable you have?

Well, I've got the Samsung U28E590D: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YD3DBOC
This is basically a very, very bare-bones 4K monitor and it doesn't have any ports besides 2xHDMI, 1xDisplayPort and 1x 3.5mm audio jack. I've been able to use the audio jack, yes. But even if your monitor has USB ports, you would need a separate cable for that because that USB-C-to-DisplayPort cable doesn't carry any other protocols.

Do you mean seberate USB-A to USB-C from the monitor to MBP, right?

That cable uses the DP alt mode of USB-C, so I think it still has to have an an adapter built in to convert the DP to HDMI. Hence the huge bulky HDMI "connector" on the end. It looks like they just relocated the adapter from the middle of the cable to the end.

I have yet to see an actual HDMI alt mode cable in the wild. I believe HDMI licensing has a press event planned for CES next month to show off some of the first commercial solutions available.

I ordered the LG 5K fine art for my MacBook Pro 15". Will I be able to use the monitor also to connect my desktop PC with an adapter from thunderbolt 3 to display port?
Will it support 5K?

It says in the description that this is a CABLE, not an ADAPTER:

"No Adapter, No Converter
CHOETECH USB C to HDMI Cable lets you use the USB Type-C port on your computer to directly deliver visuals on your HDMI-equipped monitor without the need for cumbersome protocol and connector adapters or dongles."

In fact, it's the only one I've seen that doesn't have the bulky box for the electronics. The reviews also look positive for use with the MBP.

Ya, I read their description as well. But the description also states that it uses Displayport Alt mode, which needs to be converted to HDMI. The bulky end to the cable is the same size as the adapters on other cables, so I'm guessing that their "not an adapter" claim is more marketing than technical.

Edit: it's basically this, but with the converter portion moved to the end of the cable. This one is also advertised as a USB C to HDMI "cable".

Anyone know if Daisy Chaining is supported? I have tried, I can get all 3 external monitors to show picture but only duplicate cannot extend the desktop.
