Mine works perfectly, both of them.

I liked it better when I could print out the entire thread and say "every single person here had a problem." Now I have to say "almost every single person here had a problem, except for this one guy who was like 'well I don't have trouble, so I guess I should chime in on a thread where everyone is trying to figure out this problem they're all having.'"

My wall charger died and Apple phone support was easy. They sent a new one overnight with DHL and provided a return shipping label and a phone number to schedule a pickup of the defective one. I did have to provide a credit card so they could charge me if I didn't return the old one.

The point is it should be a painless transaction with Apple support. If they are giving you crap then ask for a supervisor or just call back to get a different CSR.

Had to exchange mine

My AC Adapter stopped working a week after I got my phone. I called Apple to see what I can do and to make sure it was covered under the one year warranty. The Apple guy on the phone (Kyle) made an appointment with a Apple Genius at my local store. I walked in, told the guy my problem, and in 10 mins (after all the paper work they had to do) I walked out with a new AC adapter.

The Apple Genius said that they had the same issue with a handful of other customers, but he just said he thought it was a bad batch.. I guess it's more than a bad batch..

Anywhere but here
I got mine replaced at my local apple store. I did not even have to schedule an appointment with the genius bar. Just told the person at the POS and he gave me a new one after confirming that my old one had died.

Hmm. Never had a problem. I don't move it around at all though, so maybe that makes a difference.

Yup, mine went bad, and I was camping at the time! The USB cable was just fine, but the brick was dead. When I got done camping, I took it to an Apple Store, and they swapped it on the spot, no questions, didn't even test it.

The iPhone charger is exactly the same as the USB iPod charger that apple has been selling for a while isn't it? After all the one that came with my iPhone has the words "iPod AC Adapter" on it (or something like that, the main point is that it says iPod, not iPhone).

3 power bricks all working fine

I have three chargers (two at home, one at work). I leave them plugged in all the time and plug my iPhone into whichever one I'm nearest at the time. All three have worked well without a hitch.

Yes, mine died on my after a few days, but I took it into the Apple store and they gave me a new one. I have not been using it since it charges great from my computer.

I helps that the iPhone keeps a good charge the whole day!!!

My dock charger worked fine, but the phone didn't charge on USB to computer. I assumed it was designed this way. Was I wrong?

OT, but, at 14 days the "slide to unlock" stopped responding & I couldn't answer calls. No amount of wiping on clothing, etc. helped & so I was w/o a phone till I got home & used cleanser. This was the last straw & I sadly returned the iPhone yesterday.

Slide-to-unlock is cute, but not very practical if one's driving, etc. If I disabled locking, the screen never went dark & the battery ran down quicker. Is there a sleep w/o lock mode that would wake on any touch?

My girlfriend and I both bought our iPhones on June 30. We consistently used our wall chargers until two days ago, when they both simultaneously stopped functioning. I took them into an Apple store and *poof*, I was given two new chargers. They are standard iPod wall chargers, so they had plenty in stock. btw, this is my first MR post! yay!

I had this exact same problem with my power brick. I bought my iphone on the 29th and then a few days ago i unplugged the brick for the first time. Thats when i could no longer get a charge regardless of where i plugged the power adapter it in. (of course it worked from computer charger)

Anyway I went to my local apple store told them what had occurred and they tested my power brick and magically it worked and they guy acted like I was dumb.

Another worker walked by and overheard what was going on and supposedly this is a software problem and a quick fix is to shut down your iphone and turn it back on and then it will recognize the power adapter. I havent been able to test it since I havent had problems since but people might want to try that.

This did not fix my problem.

I went to the local repair shop, despite being able to send my MacBook Pro in for service three times in the past 3 months, they refused to send in a power adapter saying "we aren't a corporate store."

I went to the AT&T store. They refused to help saying "we don't warranty the power adapter."

I called 1800-myiphone. The guy said they would send a replacement in the mail in less than a week. At that time I put the broken one in the box and send it back. They have charged my credit card $1 until they receive the broken one, apparently, there are no other charges.

iPhone AC adapter

Yep, my iPhone AC adapter died a quick death. I purchased my iPhone on July 1st and by July 5th it croaked. Apple sent me a new one two days later - great service. All is fine now.

That certainly didn't fix it for me.

But I did discover that my iPhone, after being on for a long time without ever being reset, was acting very oddly. I would do the 'slide to unlock', and the 'slider' would sit at the far right of the area and sit there until I hit the home button, only then would it go to asking for my passcode. Resetting the iPhone fixed it.

Had similar issue only with certain outlets.

I was just in New York on vacation and I ran into the same problem. When I first arrived at a friends home, my wall charger worked fine no problems. We went into the city for a couple of days and the charger would not work in any of my hotel (Westin in Times Square) rooms outlets. None! I thought the brick was broken. (Thankfully the Westin rooms all have alarm clocks with iPod docks! I was able to keep my iPhone charged using that dock.) However, when I returned to my friends home and I tried the charger again and it worked no problems. Our friend's home is brand new and it has standard wall outlets. The Westin's outlets were the kind with a flat face (not recessed like most outlets) so that might have something to do with it.

A Solution - Factory Seating Issue?

I don't see how software updates or any other waving of hands or other magic tricks (plug it in first to the computer USB, wait five minutes, genuflect, go to AC power plug in Kitchen 'cause kitchen outlets are more powerful than other outlets, cough, plug in AC adaptor twice, 5 seconds apart, click heels three times) has anything to do with what is obviously a herky-jerky plug.

The AC adaptor that came with my iPhone also displayed 50% reliability when charging. Very annoying. I bent the prongs. I tried another outlet. Same unreliable behavior. I then slid off the whole corner where the two prongs are and then replaced it back in the little brick. Just for good measure, I did it 2-3 times.

All is well.:)

Granted, I should not have had to have done this in the first place, but it sure beats going to the store to replace it with another AC brick that will likely do the same thing. Methinks it was a seating issue at the factory - what-ev-ah.

I'd guess your USB ports weren't working properly if it doesn't charge when plugged into computer.

Slide to unlock/answer is annoying, especially since as you noted, there is no way to turn it off. They ought to make it an option to have the phone sleep, but just wake on pressing suspend or home button. Better yet, the home button should just answer a call, much easier when driving.

That said, I've now mastered the slide with no look, but I'd still appreciate the option to get rid of sliding. Neither my suspend button, nor my home button have ever gotten accidentally pressed, they require force of a kind I certainly hope is never going to reach my iPhone accidentally.

iPhone Power Adaptor

My girlfriends also died unexpectantly within about one week of use. Strange phenomenon. At anyrate, as stated, the local Apple store had no problem exchanging it with a new one ( even though the return date had expired). Love APPLE.

it is a bad adpater

I had this same problem, it is seperate from the icon issue. Every few days it would stop working. It's not in the the phone, it's the adpator. I took it back to the Apple Store and they replaced it no quetions asked.
