Because its a Mac app. You can use private APIs on a mac app, can't on an App Store app. Thats also why its not in the Mac App Store.
Sorry, I'm new at this.
What are "private APIs?"
I'm trying to understand why coconutBattery is not available in the App store, especially if it is so good (according to what I'm reading)

From the way I understand it, as I am not a developer. A private API is using a functionality of the device that was meant for internal use only or using a third party API. Take battery statistics, cycle count and battery health was meant only for Apple to see and diagnose battery issues. Coconut battery is a great app, but Apple does not allow developers to access that information and therefore the app is not allowed. But even if it was allowed, Apple has hidden that information now. Only way to access this information is if you have a Mac and have Coconut installed.

For those of you who are as curious as I am, here's the definition of an API:

Application program interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. An API specifies how software components should interact and APIs are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components.

That specific battery app - Battery Life - is no longer available on any Apple App Store. =(

Yes because stupid people were reporting to Apple that it didn't work, but it still did. Not to the extent before but to iOS 10 standards. But Apple is removing apps when people claim they are no longer working.

Is that what happened?

Yes, he (the developer) posted it on Twitter. Gotta love people that don't pay attention and can't read. It was a free app too. Who the hell is complaining to Apple that a free app doesn't work.

I wonder if they used that more of an excuse to remove than anything else as they don't seem to really allow or at least like battery apps of that type in the App Store in general.

I'm guessing that had part of it. But I'm sure at least one person had to complain to draw attention to the app.

Searching for "Battery Life" in the App Store seems to bring up a few copy-cat type of apps though.

Bringing this thread back since it’s my specific question. I’m confused about coconut battery, I need to download this on a Mac to use it? It’s not an iOS app?

The Battery Life app's back on the apps store now though and appears to be working for me.

It’s a placebo. Those apps can only estimate based on the voltage level of your battery. Health, temperature and cycle count is completely hidden in iOS and developers have no access.

My wife's iPhone 6 has become very slow.

These are the numbers from coconutBattery:

Can anyone tell me if the battery is due for replacement?

I just paid to have a new battery put in my 5s, and to me it seems like they gave me a 800mAh replacement rather than a 1560(1600ish) one, or have they not done anything?

Am I interpreting it correctly if the battery was just replaced?
