Hey guys I’m back, quick info I flashed the RX 6600 and it works in my Mac Pro and in thunderbolt as well so now I’m thinking RX 6850 or better… I left the 6600 in my Mac Pro and tested with the RX 580 in eGPU and it’s working as well… oh and I did this too 💁‍♂️😇
It’s updated to 12 cores 64 Gb now and needed a good cleanup 😱 I reinstalled the OS clean the firmware is

You still need to do the Software Updates to get the 430.120.6.0.0 EFI release, Big Sur 11.6.6 and Monterey 12.4 both have it.

I installed Opencore 0.80 before Mac OS 12.4 to have lilu and whatevergreen for the Radeon in thunderbolt (probably useless) does it mean it skipped the firmware update?

Do I need this firmware update for better performances?

EFI firmware updates are blocked with OC, you have to go fully vanilla to upgrade firmware. Sleep is crashing with 429.120.6.0.0 (and several other firmwares before the current one, it's a seven months long Via Crucis)

Depends on what you did, if you don't have a sealed container, won't work and you will need to nuke/clean install.
