From experience I know that all FedEx deliveries from VZW were always deliver by 8pm. When I ordered my ASK and Apple Pencil, I opted for the delivery by 12pm to see if I can force the iPad to come by 12pm as well 
. Sure enough my VZW iPad states deliver by 8pm 6/13, and my Apple products state by 12pm 6/13. Here's hoping both are here by 12pm.

Usually it depends on driver but the website will still say 8pm for the iPad but be delivered with the others. This will only happen if he has both packages on his truck. Sometimes different timed deliveries are on different trucks! Hope it comes earlier!
