I wonder if this has anything to do with Apple striking a deal with Vodaphone in UK or France for January. I read something about that. Also, don't believe those saying you won't see one until LTE because even when LTE is rolled out, both VZW and ATT phones will need to support the older GSM, WCDMA and CDMA frequencies respectively. It is certainly possible that an iPhone for VZW is in the works, VZW is pretty good about keeping a tight lid on upcoming devices.

Everyone needs to remember that Vodafone owns Verizon.
So the BB manager probably heard the news that Verizon's parent company is getting it and ASSumed Verizon would too.

All those Verizon Blackberry world phones come with a Vodafone SIM card.

Why won't this rumor die? It's just not gonna happen. Verizon doesn't like wifi. They insist on selling everything through their vcast service. They're CDMA. Oh, and Apple and AT&T have an exclusivity contract.

Why won't this rumor die?

Well, obviously it's partly because a lot of people wish it to happen.

Verizon doesn't like wifi. They insist on selling everything through their vcast service. They're CDMA. Oh, and Apple and AT&T have an exclusivity contract.

Likewise, why won't old and incorrect arguments die?

Verizon likes WiFi just fine. Their smartphones can download anything from anywhere.

Even poor Palm makes both CDMA and GSM phones. It's not rocket science.

And the exclusivity can end.

I believe these discussions assume that Verizon will have the phone only after the exclusivity ends.

Because Apple is in bed with Vodaphone now, and badly wants to launch on the big red to increase it's market share. All new BB's with VZW are coming with WiFi, as well as their upcoming Android phones. Yes they will probably have their own VZW appstore and VCAST service, but so does ATT, and iPhone was exempt from these services. It's not a matter of if but when my friends.

Think about it, you don't want to rely on a phone store to activate your phone if you live really far from one which may be the case in many countrys...

There's no physical store visit necessary. I can go to my carrier's website, enter the old and new phones' ESNs*, enter the codes that are given to me, and use the new phone. It's not quite as simple as swapping a SIM but it's not really very strenuous either.

Earlier this week I connected a phone with a brand-new number/account. That required a call to my carrier but the whole process only took about 5 minutes.

*I'm not sure whether this is strictly required at a technical level, or whether it's just something that my carrier does in order to give you instructions specific to your model of phone. As part of the swap they give you a code to enter into the new phone, which is the CDMA equivalent of an IMSI (SIM number). Entering this code may technically be all you need to do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard that there were radios being produced that support LTE/GSM/CDMA, If this is true they could still make only one iphone.

Why wont you people understand that there is a chance. Ive heard my own set of rumors and Facts, to which I'm not going to post due to legality issues.
I have a family member that works at the Verizon main office.

All I'm going to say is...Never say never. Things are going to change. ;)
