Yeah I did it for my iPhone 6 and I'm still rocking UDP

I thought that was the BB method. So apple works apparently the same? Curious as who would ship out quicker, Verizon or Apple. My UDP is up for an upgrade and am thinking of going through Apple.

Also does it matter how many GB I choose when adding to cart as Unlim not listed?

No it doesn't matter. I chose the 2gb just because.

So what exactly does your account say? Two year contract with UDP? Best Buy has not been taking orders for 3 weeks so I am thinking of going through Apple and trying this.

Also, is cutting up SIM that comes with the new phone really necessary? Or can I just take it out and store it somewhere.

My account shows an upgrade date in September of 2016. And it also shows unlimited data. I cut the sim in half and threw it away. Storing it somewhere isn't a good idea because the moment that sim activates, your plan changes to the 2GB plan.

We were eligible to upgrade last year but lose our unlimited data. So we ditched Verizon for Sprint. Worst decision of our lives. Our phones worked almost nowhere, and we live in a large city. We went back to Verizon after a month and got the 6GB plan and never went over. When we got our new iPhones this year, Verizon gave us another 2GB for free for the next two years. We don't really miss our unlimited data at all.

I thought about paying full retail and keeping unlimited but opted to take them up on their loyalty max for people coming off of unlimited data. 6gb is more then I'll ever need.

Thanks for the info. Seems legit. I was thinking of just storing the sim card in a seperate location in case of the event that it doesn't work and I need to return it.

You wouldn't need to return the sim. But I can't say that with 100 percent certainty.

Bro. You could've kept unlimited.

Can explain how this is done? I've read an old thread on another forum that buying a Galaxy S5 through Best Buy and swapping sims can allow you to keep unlimited. Problem is I have a Galaxy S3 and if I wanted to switch to an iPhone I'd have to get a nano-sim.

Is there any chance they catch us all in a few months and put us all on 2 GBs? I'd almost rather sacrifice my unlimited to prevent the aggravation.

Here's what you do. Order through Apple.com. When the new phone comes in, toss that sim. Go onto your my Verizon and find the option to "activate a phone." Enter the phone's serial number and say you need a new sim. They'll send you a SIM card with the unlimited data

They know about the loopholes, im sure. Seriously doubt they'll send us all to 2GBs. They're just doing their best to push people off the UDP plans due to the holes in the system.

no, it's just me.

Just to clarify... order with the unlimited data line, go on VZ's site choose my number (the one with unlimited data), then I'm guessing there will be an option to enter my iPhone 6's serial number to get a new sim? Where do I get the iPhone 6's serial number, on the box?

Thanks for brining this to my attention, I just completed the process and so far so good. Originally purchased full price 128gb from Best Buy.

Once I read this thread I ordered subsidized 128gb from Best Buy for delivery against my unlimited line. Phone arrived today, I tossed the SIM before turning it on and popped in my old one.

Returning the full price model to Best Buy tonight. Thanks again for the tip.

No problem

I buy full retail and keep my UDP. I buy new phones basically every year. I won't be changing this anytime soon because Verizon is choosing not to throttle us now.

I'll likely leave Verizon once they finally kick us all off of UDP and/or throttle us.
