Verizon Unlimited Data customers, are you buying full retail or are you leavi...

I edge'd up via VZW's website and my unlimited data stayed on my plan

I thought they got rid of the option to keep unlimited on edge?

Also, has anyone upgraded on Verizon's site and did the sim swap and have the same results of keeping their UDP? I am locked out of apple.com bc of the error saying I already have an order (which was returned and my eligibility is reinstated).

The SIM swap has worked for quite a few people. And as far as my situation is concerned, I have a really weird plan. So last year I upgraded (with the edge plan) to the 5S and verizon told me I'd lose my unlimited data. Ok fine, I kinda expected that. They did give me 6GBs b/c I was coming from an unlimited plan. So, a few days later my bill came in and it was extremely high. I called Verizon back and was like "Yo dudes, what's going on?" So they tell me that all the data that I used (whilst still on the unlimited data plan) was now being billed to me. And I was like "WTF?" I told them it would've made more sense to restart my billing cycle the minute my plan changed or put me on the 6GB data plan and simply wait until my current billing cycle ends before fully switching my data allowance to 6GBs. The rep actually agreed with me. So, a few of them looked into the issue for me. I got a couple of call backs, basically them keeping me updated on what was all going on. So about week or so later I called back and the rep told me that one of the supervisors noted on my account to simply put me back on the unlimited data plan. And I've had unlimited ever since. My bill was fixed too. That, among other reasons, is why I always say Verizon's customer service is phenomenal. My unlimited stayed on when I got my 6 plus too.

Same here. I signed up for Edge to get the 6 and selected 6gb/$30. My plan stayed at unlimited data.

So my wife wanted to upgrade her 5 to a 5s. I signed her up for Edge and selected a 6gb/$30 plan. Phone arrived and I swapped her sim card. Her unlimited remained as well.

Gave my son my wife's iPhone 5 and put in the sim that came with my wife's new 5s. Was having trouble activating the sim so I called telesales. Do not ask me how it happened and I didn't question it but the lovely and helpful woman in telesales activated my son's 5 on an unlimited plan. She said, "since you're bringing your own phone you'll be keeping your unlimited data. Can I help you with anything else?" I ended that call as quickly as possible. :D

Yeah, You kept the UDP because you didn't activate the iPhones with SIM they came with. The SIM that came with them are tied to the switch order for 6GB data that you signed up for. Basically, you did BB method. :) That explains why you had trouble with your son's 5 activation because your wife's 5s was already activated. The rep must have been dumb to not notice. You got lucky there. :)

I am trying to order the 6 on Apple.com. When I enter my info it says I can only pick up at Apple Store. Any reason why I am seeing this message. I want to keep my unlimited but in the store they make you activate before leaving

Haha that's awesome. Right now I paid full retail for a 6+, but would love to use an upgrade and sim swap to save some cash since it is working for everyone. Read that some places like Costco are screening orders and activating the phones before they ship so unlimited data is removed before anyone can even swap their sim. So readers beware!
