I love my iPhone, but the one glaring problem for me is lack of flash support. They need to get that in there soon.
To me it sounds like it is coming, since Adobe is updating there flash to support H.264 and we know the Iphone supports that cause that is how we can watch YouTube. Just a matter of time! Just hopefully not too much time!
I just downloaded and installed with no problems. I did not mod my iPhone. The first thing different I've noticed is that my airport reception is far improved. For whatever reason, even when in the same room as my base station I would only get 1-2 bars of Airport reception. Now I have full reception everywhere in my condo. Not sure if the reception is really any better or if the indicator is fixed.
Went to update, had to restore.
Apple really needs to fix the restore-needed updates. I have a scary amount of work information in this phone, and don't feel comfortable having to wipe and restore it just to update the sw. Yes, it's backed up, but it's a roll of the dice I don't feel is necessary.
same here, sigh, i also had to perform a restore, it gave me an error when trying to update. this is frustrating! my phone isn't modded.
My wifi reception is definitely better. While in my office I have never been able to connect to the wifi hub in the conference room down the hall. After the update I was surprised that the Edge connection seemed faster, until I realized I was connected to the wifi hub with two bars. For me, this is a huge issue, as I was preparing to try to deal with whatever hasslewould take to get the wifi connection extended to my office area.
Yes!!!
I was hoping for Flash with this update, but then again, why would YouTube be updating everything over the summer to the H.264 codec if Flash was ever coming?
I read that Adobe is updating its Flash to support H.264, but I am not sure what that means, or how that will help with existing Flash based sites.... Anyone know? I am admittedly ignorant to this type of info.
Just speculation obviously but they might be on to something.MacDailyNews Take: Paving the way for iPhone Flash support? Apple clearly wants widespread H.264 and AAC support. Now the Flash plug-in for iPhone makes sense. In fact, we'd venture to guess that there is a high probability that Apple told Adobe to support H.264 and AAC, if Adobe wanted to get Flash onto the iPhone.
In early July, The Wall Street Journal's Walter S. Mossberg reported, "At launch, the iPhone version of the Safari browser is missing some plug-ins needed for playing common types of Web videos. The most important of these is the plug-in for Adobes Flash technology. Apple says it plans to add that plug-in through an early software update, which I am guessing will occur within the next couple of months."
Note: The advanced H.264 codec makes it possible for Apple's QuickTime 7 (released April 29, 2005) to play back high-definition video on a personal computer without additional hardware required. Apple's HD QuickTime gallery is here.
Adobe is following Apple's considerable lead here.

I was on the phone with Apple support Wednesday(powerblock quit working). I reported this bug. The guy hadn't herd of this issue. Was ready to ship me a loaner and have me ship my phone. Timing wasn't convenient so I didn't take him up on the offer, yet.
So, Apple isn't admitting this issue is a bug. Maybe it is hardware, especially when you read here that many are not having this crash. If you have the iPod/safari crash, especially after 1.0.2, I suggest calling Apple and have them 'fix' your phone. I still think it's software, but apparently not enough people are reporting it to apple.
I'm hoping 1.0.2 fixes it, but I said the same about 1.0.1.
ArsTechnica lists the update as 92 MB, MacRumors as only 3.7 MB, which one is correct? Pretty large difference, 3.7 MB sounds more likely.

Weird. ...no request to restore first here. If you see that either you have modified the OS install somehow or your iPhone's OS install was found to be inconsistent.same here, sigh, i also had to perform a restore, it gave me an error when trying to update. this is frustrating! my phone isn't modded.
Same here. The ring volume is my one and only complaint so far.
Well, I have just performed a semi-scientific test, and can not discern any volume difference at all between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2.
I performed my test using a high-end consumer microphone recording using fixed levels on a MiniDisc recorder, and watching the VU meter's high points during iPod speaker playback, ringtones, and speaker phone (playing back a voice mail, since if the iPhone wasn't in Airplane mode, I got nasty GSM feedback.)
I had the microphone on a microphone stand elevating the end of the microphone about one inch in the air, pointing directly at the iPhone three inches away, which was in its dock on a solid wood desk surface. (The mic was specifically pointed at the Home button.)
The VU meter highs and lows were indistinguishable between pre and post update. Subjective listening also had the two sets indistinguishable.
In other words: The speakerphone is still too quiet. (A purely subjective test after the scientific test confirms this.)
