Your card could be modified to show boot screens on other ports as well, the seller just doesn't know better. But I guess if he was competent at all he wouldn't have to rip of Mac Users with 6+ year old GPUs.

I'd return the card and do it myself properly.

as the link about the card stated = 60 day money back, no questions asked. yeah i dont get it. im not going to sit with my head all the way back looking at my hdtv screen, and im certainly not going to buy another display when i have a beautiful 20" Apple Cinema Display that has served me well for many years. seeing as it boots fast though the dvi then i guess the original apple HD5770 would work and boot as fast though DVI

thanks orph, ill check them out.
[doublepost=1458485537][/doublepost]maybe he will fix this card so it will boot properly on DVI
[doublepost=1458486848][/doublepost]the seller also sells these that will boot though DVI with boot screen. so there is a way of making this HD5770 boot fast without having to go though the VGA, but with the DVI. how difficult is that to do.

how meany displays do you need to run?
is it just one hdtv display and one apple display, i assumed you ran a lot of displays as you mentioned having 4 GPU's installed before.
if you do just need 2 displays look at the nvidia sticky https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...out-nvidia-pc-non-efi-graphics-cards.1440150/

as i mentioned i have a GTX 660 from EVGA in my macpro 3.1 on osx 10.10 it's just a pc card no flashing or messing around just one power cable + the card i have 2 DVI ports that work & a hdmi port which works (and can send sound to my TV when watching films etc) + a display port (or something never used it but assume it works fine)
you can grab them cheep on ebay used

edit
at the mo i have two 1080p displays pluged in via DVI + my tv via hdmi works fine

my model came with 4 video cards, thats just how i got it. anyway i now have a flashed HD5770 and it works perfect. both DVI and HDMI outputs work as they should. now i can enjoy Yosemite.

I flashed my own Sapphire Vapor-X HD5870, no boot screen but boots from SSD in 15 seconds on a MP 3,1. Shame they can't all be like that. Glad you got a 5770 that works as you want.
