"Setting up is easy!", they say.

Transferring was a pain.

  • Tap a bunch of times.
  • Add faceID.
  • Location Services.
  • Add credit cards.
  • Continue with Apple Beta Software Program
  • Emergency SOS
  • Transferring Data...
  • Transfer Cellular?
  • Enter phone
  • Enter zip
  • Sending one time message to device... THAT IS CURRENTLY IN TRANSFER MODE!
  • Transfer complete.
  • Cellular did not active.
  • Try Again.
  • Wipe Phone.
  • Restart old phone.
  • Cellular activated.
  • Repeat the above, except now cellular is active and everything seems to work.
What happened to easy?
Just place the old phone next to the new one and tap one button that says.. make it the same.

Any bets that they will not be the same after transfer complete in 5 - 10 minutes?

Setup not going all that smoothly. Has started a couple of times. Had to DL a software update. Would not setup phone number from iPhone 14 Pro right next to it. Got the number activated but then it would not transfer data from the other phone, made me erase everything and start over. Now I am setting up to sync data from iCloud. Not the way it is supposed to work.

Read this Macrumors article:

Warning: Update Your iPhone 15 to iOS 17.0.2 Before Transferring Data From Another iPhone

I knew this would catch alot of people out!

Still won't update from the other phone. Had to back up from iCloud.

Now I am back to the Hello screen again.

third try fail.. scan image still not working, manual authenticate method. (and rebooted both phones in-between to be sure).
then... finally starts to go, but wait.. Can't transfer eSim. try 4 times.. no dice.
Hopefully your trouble is an isolated issue. My 15 pro updated to 17.0.2 and everything transferred over without a hiccup.

Downloaded from iCloud via cell connection. After 45 minutes, it joined wifi out of the blue. Still dling now.

Proof at how lackluster of an upgrade the 15 is over the 14, all the massive amount of advertising they are doing. It's everywhere.

The white is so pretty!

And I know everyone has said it, but it’s kind of shocking how much lighter it is!

Had a little glitch with the transfer where it didn't want to transfer my primary number, but it worked the second time. Now I havee to figure out how to transfer my second number over. This is my first time switching phones with two numbers on my e-SIM.

My 15PM is sitting in the mail bin at work until next week as it came after I left for a 3 day weekend. :(

As far as transferring. I’m going to back my 14PM up to my MBP and restore it to my new phone. This seems like the most foolproof way to do it.

Re entering the CC security code info is the price of doing business and a necessary step IMHO.

Went to the Apple Store today and held the 15 Pro and Pro Max in my hand. Surprisingly, they both felt cheap to me compared to the pro models of recent years. The stainless steel somehow made the phones feel more premium.

Good video. Natural Titanium looks very good. Waiting for my Pro Max to be delivered

Well, it's taken 4 hours so far to finish software updates, take backups, and transfer my wife's iPhone 13 Mini to her new titanium blue 15 Pro. Still online with Verizon chat to help with transferring the number to eSIM. Tried to do the SIM-to-eSIM conversion myself but that didn't work.

Verizon was able to activate the iPhone 15 but now we're troubleshooting inability to make/receive calls and no cellular data. Hopefully we get everything sorted out soon, then I can repeat the process upgrading my daughter's iPhone 12 to her new 15.

Got the white Pro set up (phone to phone for the first time in years) in under two hours, did the obvious and let it update during the appropriate step in setup. ATTws eSIM transfer failed during the steps but spontaneously popped up as successful a few minutes later - as the code also came up on my Mac, there was no problem. I expect a couple days of usual battery wonkiness as background stuff grinds away.

All in all, a much smoother transition compared to going from 13 pro to 14 pro, which required an hour of discussion with ATT and two days to complete all downloads from iCloud- and all that after my launch day order disappearing in the UPS system and having the replacement show up a month later.

And already - the drop tests. IMO, there’s so much variability in the typical YT drop tests as to be almost meaningless but I do wonder about how well titanium will deform or if it will make it more likely to crack the screen over time.
Short vid summary - the 14 pro survived a LOT and the 15 pro had its camera cover plate break off and screen died.

I bet a lot will skip 15Pro due to not getting the 5x zoom … I know I would.

But i’m of those weirdos that like the mini size both in ipad and iphone … and car😂🤣
