I checked the Apple Store app. Seems like the 15 Pro is readily available in multiple different configurations at my local Apple Store.

Edit: Just the 15 Pro. Doesn’t seem like anything is available for the Pro Max.
Same here. I got my natural pro, but gf wants a white Pro Max. Been refreshing the store - lol good luck to her

It's a phone! In a box!
Not sure a site called MacRumors is the right place to make fun of excitement about unboxing brand-new iPhones...

Anyway, I don't have a 15/15 Pro on order, but I did see them in the flesh at the New Haven Apple Store today. A few things differed from what I had expected; a few did not:
  • The videos I have seen do not adequately show how subtle the 15's colors are. The green, yellow, and blue are so close to white as to be indistinguishable with a quick glance. Of those three, blue was my favorite. Overall, much to my surprise, pink was my preferred option. It also seems more saturated than the three previously noted. Black is deeper than the equivalent Pros--they are more accurately dark grey.
  • The Titanium Blue was to my eyes indistinguishable from the M2 MacBook Air blue. I tried to smudge it with my fingers, but I guess they weren't greasy enough.
  • I expected to like the Natural Titanium best of the Pros, but I found it dull and uninteresting. I would get the blue or silver.
  • The weight difference on the Pros is very obvious and welcome.
  • The newly curved edges were also welcome, but I'd have liked even more curve.
  • I couldn't really detect any significant difference in the bezels.
  • The textured glass backs are still pretty slippery.
The store was very busy. There were several prospective buyers in line near the table I was at, and only those with a reservation got what they came in for. Everyone else was unlucky and had to go with a different storage tier if they wanted to purchase there and then. The majority were trying to get Pros/Pro Maxes. Most of the ones I saw decided to order later, when the exact phone they wanted was available. A few upgraded. There were people buying non-Pros, but fewer than were buying Pros.

The Watch table was nearly deserted for the hour I was there.

This guy said he really liked the blue titanium color but he was concerned that you would see the scratches. I love my blue!! I just don’t understand his thinking because in the end be got the black titanium iPhone. Lol. The black is really going show off the scratches, nicks, and dust. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I received my new phone in the evening of launch day. My plan was to transfer data from my old phone to the new one by having them sit side by side. I updated the new phone to iOS 17.0.2 as prompted, and restarted both devices. I did have to search off an Apple support article suggesting that I restart both devices to get the setup work started. Once I did that, everything transferred correctly. There were no further surprises for me.

The best part of my first 24 hours of experience with the new device is that the new phone is so much quicker than the old one to process.

I am using the Apple clear case and I find it pretty slippery in my hands. I will very likely buy a different case that lets me feel I have a secure grip on it.

Looks a lot like the unboxing videos for the iPhone 12, 13, and 14.
Pretty much like previous unboxing videos with some titanium sprinkled in. Hopefully with next year’s Pro, we’ll get something at least noticeably different. Then again, Apple seems to have trouble getting out of the design comfort zone they’re currently in.

Went to the Apple Store today and held the 15 Pro and Pro Max in my hand. Surprisingly, they both felt cheap to me compared to the pro models of recent years. The stainless steel somehow made the phones feel more premium.
That classic Jurassic Park line comes to mind:
“Is it heavy? Then it’s expensive. Put it down.”

I have an old Citizen watch made from titanium dated somewhere in the early noughties. It’s colour would be classed as “space grey” in Applese.

Not only the weight but the strap moving against itself when picking it up feels and sounds almost plasticky and it is comically light. It is amazingly resistant to scratching and burrs though and looks classy once on the wrist.
