I'm trying it now. Seems to work even with the TV going like you said.

----------

The thing I don't get is why it has to be processed remotely instead of your computer doing it. Products like Dragon dictate don't require anything be sent out for remote processing. I could understand maybe that iPhones or iPads can't handle that sort of processing, but Mountain Lion runs on regular computers which have sufficient processing power to do the job themselves.

I suppose this bypasses the learning process that Dragon has to do, which takes quite a while to get good.

I imagine it's just piggybacking on the same infrastructure as Siri. Doing it that way, adding it to mountain lion would have been a relatively trivial exercise compared to adding voice recognition into OS X itself.

(I note that dictation puts a space between OS and X as we are supposed to now!)

Dictation works fine for me. Although I can't seem to get it to put capitals at the beginning of a word.

For example the first letter of the last word in this sentence should be a cat capital.

Hi guys. I first wrote this little piece just so that when it came to dictating I'd have something to say. Yeah, defeats the purpose but this isn't a real world example. Just testing it out and then posting. Bye.
