Hmmm, I thought this was a wallpaper people here might appreciate, but no responses. Does the link not work for other people, or is it just too geeky?

No it's good, I saved it and will use it when the time comes. Thanks :)

Mine (i7 2.80Ghz w/ 8GB ram) just arrived in Anchorage. The estimated delivery is 11/17, so possibly I might be seeing it a little sooner. I ordered 10/24.

All shipment travel activity is displayed in local time for the location

Nov 12, 2009 11:51 AM Arrived at FedEx location ANCHORAGE, AK
Nov 12, 2009 10:29 PM In transit SHANGHAI CN
Nov 12, 2009 9:06 PM In transit SHANGHAI CN
Nov 12, 2009 9:46 AM Left FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN
Nov 12, 2009 9:34 AM Picked up SHANGHAI CN
Nov 11, 2009 8:14 PM Shipment information sent to FedEx

The world is goofy. I ordered same day as you, same config. Mine left same days as you, 15 mins later, and it's just "in transit" with no updates now for well over 19 hours. The process is a mystery for me, particularly as mine is slated for Monday delivery, not Tuesday.

I saved it.
Can I ask where you got it from?
I might possibly then be able to obtain one similar but for the i7 when it comes.
Cheers.

Lessons Learned

Guys,

Let's capture the lesson's learned from the past 3000+ posts.

1. The myth of BTO orders taking "1-2 weeks" longer is complete rubbish. Has Apple changed their system or did people just make it up?
2. Apple orders do not ship in chronological order, even on machines with same spec. My theory is that it might be related to price paid (ie. full retail price paid = get your order first).
3. Don't ask sales reps questions about things other than sales. They don't know anything and will probably make up something.

Anyone got any more?

To all Canadians with the flight UPS81, I just called UPS and even though it says the delivery will be made tomorrow, the guy I spoke to on the phone told me it's going to be Monday instead... I sure hope he's wrong! :(

By the way, I tried to cancel my order online to see what would happen and it tells me that I cannot anymore and I need to phone TeleSales to do so.

Is that good news or does that indicates anything about my order ?

Yo -- It is canceled!! I did this myself too and it said the same thing soCALL THEM NOW!! It is canceled for sure. Apple's site sucks. They are so good in designing, but there's very poor usability. They don't tell you it's canceled and the cust rep on the phone will confirm it or an email is on it's way.

My personal opinion on this is that its based entirely on how many units they can get into a container and then how many containers per flight.

I bought my i7 iMac october 21st. through the danish Education Store, and mine was shipped yesterday before other orders made through the ordinary Apple Store. I don't think it matters whether you pay the full price or not, but I can se why this theory would make sense, but practice and theory isn't always the same.

it means they started on it already ;) it's good

I did phone them later in the morning and he asked me if my order was W9xxxxx and if it is a iMac 27 Quad Core, so it seems that my order is still going. As you say, I will probably get a email confirming that.

I hope so ;). However the money is still on my account. They did put a reserve on it but only recently it got released back in the account.

So if I cannot cancel online, in the last step of the process, that means they are dealing with it ? But I phoned about my order later on, and the Apple guy said nothing special about my order, just that it will be shipped this month.

If something was going on, would he tell me ?

When my i7 was shipping, after it hit that stage Apple still couldn't tell me any specifics. I imagine you will see your order ship within 24 hours, mine did at that point. Also, my account was not charged until my iMac was within hours of being delivered.

Now I have this added:

Nov 12, 2009 9:58 PM Int'l shipment release ANCHORAGE, AK

The Shipment Notification e-mail from Apple actually had a date of 11/16, but when I logged onto their website (as well as FedEx's) the date was the 17th. Weird. It will probably be sitting in a warehouse in town all weekend. I think Saturday pickup with FedEx costs $$, but I'm not positive about that.

the guy at ups told me they deliver saturday if you have express shipping! if my imac is in montreal tomorrow im going to pick it up at the facility

Just posting in anticipation for mine. I've still got a little bit to go as I ordered November 1st and am waiting for status changes to happen on my order.

I ordered an i7, 4GB, 1TB with the numeric pad keyboard, so I guess that mine is a BTO.

Hopefully tonight or tomorrow will be the day I get some status changes!
