Waiting for 27" Quad to SHIP thread

Just as I feared...

My iMac's status has changed from "In Transit - On Time" to simply "In Transit", and the estimated delivery date has disappeared (previously was Nov. 17). Package progress is still stuck on "Hub Scan" in Shanghai.
The biggest problem I will have with UPS missing the shipping date is that there will be nobody to receive my iMac if it misses the scheduled delivery date, so I will have to drive out to the airport to pick it up instead.

Personally I would think the Apple production facility would certainly have the i7 iMacs stocked in 1TB and 2TB configurations ready for dispatch - can't imagine that they actually make each i7 individually on a per order basis.

Stocked as in stocked in stores. I am sure they have some sort of complex algorithm to predict demand and scale factory production.

I agree. Mine is 'stuck' in lala land again. Supposed to arrive on Monday but have no idea where it is now. Frustrating.

I'm in Edmonton and I ordered my i7 on Oct. 31. Billing information was received on the 14th and there was an Export, Departure and Hub scan on the 15th (all shanghai time) but nothing since then. Apple is telling me the 20th for a delivery date but I have Express shipping which UPS says takes 1-3 business days. However other Canadians have had express and it has taken longer then that so I'm just hoping I see it next week.

When it gets into the city I'm going to find out if I can pick it up from UPS otherwise I'll miss the package and I can't justify taking a day off work right now to wait for it.

I have ordered many things and used the Express option but it still took 5-7 days. I find that UPS is SLOW when it comes to the Edmonton area. IMO.

And for those in Ontario, how long did it take to arrive once it shipped by standard shipping?

I received an e-mail yesterday that my i5 will be delivered November 24th
BTW, I ordered it on November 9th

If this is accurate it just goes to show that something bites big time.. i ordered on the 31 October and am still "Not yet shipped" How can this happon? Time to call Apple again i think

Mine was sent out on Nov 10, picked up by UPS on Nov 11 and I'm still waiting. It still hasn't left Shanghai actually.

There has been at least 3 UPS flights out of Shanghai over the weekend. Mine still says DEPARTURE SCAN (its been the same since Thursday) but I'm hoping it made it on one of those.

My date came back as the 16th when I saw the two IMPORT SCAN items but it has since gone and again saying an exception, but I think it'll move along agaiin shortly. Cologne is only about 2hrs (less really) to the UK, but plane so, if it gets on a plane soon, then I think we'll be seeing these tomorrow, otherwise, Tuesday, unless for some inexplicable reason it sits there for ages...

in my experience, UPS has ALWAYS delivered WELL before their 'scheduled' date.

In my experience they're always behind. I have 3 separate UPS shipments on route to me right now and they've all been rescheduled. 3-5 business days? Well they're on day 5 tomorrow and, according to their scans, my i7 hasn't even left Shanghai yet.

Its moving again! Just left Memphis TN. On its way northeast. If it travels like my Macbook pro did it will land in Plattsburg NY then to my house in VT. Fed Ex says Tuesday but hopefully they will surprise me and deliver tomorrow.

Checked the Apple site on the way home from the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair--it's now 'prepared for shipment'! I was beginning to lose hope of any change there... I ordered on the 5th of November at 5:56 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Houston, we have landed!!! My i7 just came throught the front door, signed and now it's finally with me... 4 long weeks waiting, and now just a couple more hours for my working day to finish as well and off we go! Damn, it feels like Christmas when I was 10 years old and got my first Gameboy...

Had a spare 10 mins so i rang for an update after hearing that i5's ordered after mine had landed in AU..

Now the Apple order people tell me that my order has not been confirmed or built, but is waiting for Government approval again.. Huh? How can it be waiting for customs if it hasnt been built, payed for, or shipped?

He said it will probably not ship until the end of the month. I let him know that people in AU who ordered after me have recieved them so how can this be possible. There is no problem with my payment method, and he could not explain why mine isnt being processed. he is going to check and call me back by the end of the day. Maybe i should just not call and wait, but im afraid it might fall through the cracks!.. If you are sitting on "Not yet Shipped" for a long time it might pay to check up on it..

I ordered on Nov 6.
Still no movement, no prepared to ship, cancel button still works, everything.
I can't imagine that cancelling it and ordering again would make it come faster right? Since mine still says 'ships Nov' and the web says 'ships 7-10 days'.
Surely there must be some sort of priority for people that ordered earlier, even if its not exactly in order...
It almost seems like its worth cancelling and ordering again since then Apple have to guarantee it will ship in 7-10 days!
BTW does anyone know if 7-10 days means calendar days or business days?

Usually, when it say 7 to 10 days or whatever, it means business days. Anytime I order anything being shipped by UPS or FEDEX (I order alot), weekends are not included. Also, usually there is no change posted in shipping status on the weekends. I read somebody said there was a change in there shipping status this weekend, very unusual. Perhaps it wasn't a delivery change, just a change in the status where it was being held.

Mine still says November, BUMMER. When I ordered the iMac i7 I also ordered the Canon MP560 printer. It was delivered the next day. It prints really nice. Oh well, at least I can print to it wirelessly from my MBP through my wireless network.

This afternoon at 4:11 PM, my iMac "Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN." A FedEx flight left Memphis for ATL just a few minutes later. My estimated shipping is Tuesday the 17. Since the computer is likely already at the Atlanta sorting facility, I'm really hoping it will come tomorrow instead of Tuesday. What are my chances? Has anyone else had theirs delivered a day early?
